My aunt got married when she was fresh out
of High School. She got married to a guy one year younger than her and I thought if you married someone older than you that the older person would be be the one who payed the bills, cleaned the house, and do every thing.

Apparently my Father spent WWII riding a flat footed polar bear across the Sahara Desert pressing pants. They were white to reflect the sun, insulated to keep cool like a cooler, and the flat feet prevented them from sinking into the sand.

I used to believe…

My mom would tell her friends "I'll give you a ring" as she was saying goodbye to them. I was always mad at her because she never gave me any rings. I thought she was giving them all jewelry.

I've always had a fetish for jewelry. When I was a child, I noticed that all of the cashiers at the grocery store had rings on. I thought that the rings were part of the uniform given to them. I told my mom that I wanted to be a cashier when I grew up so that I could have lots of rings too.

when I was little my mom told me my father was an engineer. I though that we must leave the house in the morning in a suit and change into his train-driving outfit when he got to the station...

My father married my step-mother when I was 9 years old and I got a day off school to attend the wedding. When I went back to school and told all my friends about the wedding I thought it was really mean that everyone else's parents didn't invite them to thier weddings. It didn't occur to me that other people's parents were married before the children were born. I just thought I was lucky cause my parents let me go to the rockin' party they had after the wedding.

When I was 3 or 4, I pulled a chair up behind my mom one evening and started picking through her hair. When asked what I was doing, I told her I was looking for the eyes in the back of her head.

I used to believe…

When I was younger (6 or 8, probably), I thought that when someone was fired from their job, they were put in a glass tube (kinda like those ones in a chemistry set, except big enough to put a person in) and got their feet lit on fire, and were launched like fireworks.

when i was five i thought i would just marry my brother, that it would be the simpilist and best thing; i wouldn't have to change my name, and i already knew his family. i was devestated when someone else told me (in disgust) that he was my "BROTHER and i COULDN'T marry my BROTHER!"

The evolution of what my dad did:

I thought my dad was a construction worker because he sometimes took a hard hat to work with him. Later, he corrected me and told me he was an engineer, so then I thought he drove trains. Turns out he was "just" a mechanical engineer, and for some reason, I thought that meant you had a "uniform" that consisted of short sleeve dress shirts with ties.

I used to believe…

When I was about 4 or 5, my cousin would make me mad, so I always said to mayself, "When I grow up, I'll be older than her, and that will show her..." And I don't know how I thought I could become older faster...

When I was 4, my mom told me that my brother had gotten fired from his job. I started crying. I thought to 'get fired' meant your boss took you out back and set you on fire.

When I was about six or seven, I was watching Disney's Cinderella. In the end, you saw Cinderella and the prince riding off in their carrige smooching away. When I asked mom where they were going, my mom said that they were going on their honey moon. This confused me. Why would they go to the moon? I assumed that a honey moon meant that the newly-wed couple were going to get blasted off to the moon. I also thought that the moon was made of honey. I couldn't wait till I got married because I always wanted to go to the moon!
