When I was younger my 2 best friends would always have to leave on the weekends to go visit thier dads because they were divorced. So I would have no one to play with each weekend. I thought that when they left on the weekends they all went to a sort of divorced fathers neighboor where there were tons of other kids to play with. So I kept asking my parents to get a divorce like every week. I'm glad they never did!

When I was little I asked my mom if when you got married you all of a sudden had a baby. My mom said "sorta" and for a while I never wanted to marry becasue I was afraid I would have a baby, and I hated(still do) babies.

Once when I was at a resturant with my family my Aunt was talking about how a friend of hers had been fired at work that day. Earlier I had watched a scene from the Jetsons where George Jetson got fired by his boss and was thrown through a hole in the wall down a metal shoot and into a dumpster. I really thought that was what happened to you when you got fired.

When I was little I didn't comprehend growing old. I thought that when kids grew up they moved out of the family home and never saw their parents again. The parents would then have more children to replace them and so on.
With this in mind I casually asked my mum whether she had had any children before me that I didn't know about!
She was somewhat shocked at my question!

Once around Chirstmas time my parents were always in their room with the door shut. I always wanted to know what they was doing in the room alone (I was 4) so I would stand on my head to look under the crack of the door. Mom finally told me that my dad was "in trouble and was grounded until Christmas". I was mortified that parents could get in trouble too and I didn't understand who punished them. Only later did I learn they were building a dollhouse for one of my presents.

Up until about age 12 I was thoroughly convinced that my great grandfather had been on the Titanic. It turns out, he had just used the Titanic as an example to explain that he was on a big ship like that when he was in the Navy. It registered in my brain though and I remember telling all my friends at school that he had been on the Titanic. Needless to say it's impossible seeing as there weren't too many survivors and he was definitley not the right age.

When I was about 6, my brother told me I was adopted and all the pictures of me in the delivery room were really him. He also told me my parents really didn't love me. I actually believed him for several years.

When I was younger, I used to believe that most factories of the world were completely automated. I thought that maybe a couple of people looked over the machines to make sure they were working right, but that the most employees that any factory would have would be about 10. I have no idea where this belief stemmed from.

I used to believe that marrying a non-white women is bad because they would not have babies.

I remember being 5 years old and seeing the previews for the movie PRETTY WOMAN that was soon coming to theathers. And I remember hearing the word prostitute and I didn't think it was such a bad word. So the next day in class our teacher had us all stand up in frount of the class room and say what we wanted to be when we grew up. Well little old me went stood up infrount of the hole class and said "WHEN I GROW UP I WANT TO BE A PROSTITUTE"!!! I'll never forget all the kids faces. And boy did my teacher get mad she called my parents and told them what I said and I got in troble for it lol.

An old neighbor of my grandparents was this gnarly, sea-dog-looking geezer whom I would visit when staying at my Grandparents house for summer or whatever. He used to be a merchant marine and he told me he could "breathe underwater" and that he would teach me how to do it too. My mind was blown by the idea. I was already enamored of the sea anyway so I would day dream about cruising underwater for hours without coming up for air. He never did get around to teaching me. Is that sort of thing possible?

My brother was born the day before me, only 11 years later.

For a while I think I had him convinced that he was a day older than me, but was a midget, (and that is why he was shorter...) AND therefore,he wouldn't ever get any bigger than he was.

It got him good, but only for a little while.
