i used to believe that it was really possible to grow up to become an animal for some odd reason. so when the teacher asked me what i wanted to be when i grew up i would tell her that i wanted to be a turtle

When I was about 7, I was riding in a car with my grandmother and a Temptations song came on the radio. I told her 'you know this song', and she said 'No I don't recognize it'. I was sure she was lying to me because she was old and so was the song. It took me several years to grasp the idea of the generation gap, and that the Temptations were popular when my parents were teenagers.

When I was about 4 or 5, my cousin would make me mad, so I always said to mayself, "When I grow up, I'll be older than her, and that will show her..." And I don't know how I thought I could become older faster...

When my mom was little she thought that when you grew up you were either an indian or a cowboy. However she also thought when she grew up she would eventually turn into a boy (you can see how well that turned out for her, she is know a teacher)

My brother always firmly believed that one day would be older than me. My mom told him that he wouldn't, but he might be bigger than me. I figured that this meant I'd shrink at a certain age to be smaller than him.
