My sister started Brownies 2 years before me and her and her friends would come home raving about how great 'Brown owl' was. When i eventually went to Brownies, i walked in the room and saw a brown plastic owl in the middle of the floor sat on a plastic toad stool. I looked at it horrified and whispered to my sister 'Is that brown owl???' wondering what sort of strange plastic-worshipping cult she'd brought me to. It wasn't until after she and her friend's had finished laughing at me that i realised Brown Owl was in fact a real person.

I used to think that when i went home from school everyone else ceased to exist.
I used to, as many people, believe that their stuffed toys were alive. In order to make them all feel equally loved, I had to sleep with them all in the bed with me at the same time, and in order to further extend that none would feel left out, i would have to rotate them round so that each one had a turn up top getting hugged and each one had to sleep down at the bottom as well. Needless to say I had very little room in my bed. I still attribute feelings to my stuffed toys and still have as many (even tho I am 34) but I only sleep with one (a very ragged looking Flat Eric)in my bed with me and my husband (much to his relief!!).
I used to believe that the Porcelain and Pierrot dolls, that my aunt kept in her spare bedroom, would come alive when you were asleep at night and try to kill you. They still give me the creeps and I'm not sure I've ever gotten over that one. I've never seen a Chuckie movie and also think there is a definately sinister element to garden gnomes!!! Does anyone share my view?
I was convinced that before I turned 19, I would transform back into a mermaid and return to my home in the sea. After seeing The Little Mermaid when I was 5, I just knew that I was in fact a mermaid. I turned 19 a few months ago and was crushed when I wasn't sent back home.
I used to believe that I was in a dream, maybe even being dreamt by myself, after all we appear in our own dreams, and that if I (or whoever was dreaming it) woke up that I would somehow be in another place and time.
I used to believe I was really an animal in disguise. What kind of animal I was varied greatly. I kept trying to convince people(especially my mom) that i really and truly was an animal.
I used to think that all puzzles had frames in which to put the pieces. The first puzzle I ever recieved that didn't have one made me very angry, because I thought that the person who gave it to me had somehow picked out a defective puzzle and was refusing to admit it.

I was convinced that when someone played a trombone the sliding tube went down their throat.
I couldn't just sleep with my favorite toy when I was little, because I thought my other toys would get jealous and "get me" the next night. So I had to sleep with ALL my dolls and stuffed animals in the bed, and there wasn't much room left for me. I kept rolling over and getting poked with hard plastic Barbie feet. Finally I gave up and told them that NONE of them could sleep with me anymore. I was worried they'd be mad, but after a couple of days they still hadn't killed me, so I figured they got over it.
My eldest brother told me that when you started a jigsaw, first you had to do the outside. This stopped an army of 2d creatures called the Nth men from escaping, then you killed them by doing the centre. If you failed to complete the jigsaw, those that survived would get you in the night in revenge for their fallen comrades.
I don't think I seriously believed this myself, but I had to wonder why my brother liked doing jigsaws if he thought they were so dangerous.
I used to believe that a stuffed animal gorilla I had named Kong protected me from monsters. My parents put it in the closet every night and told me it would fight all the monsters in the the closet. Until I left it on the floor one day and my dog tore it apart.
In my more paranoid moments as a young child I used to believe that I was accidentally saying everything I thought out loud. I thought the whole world could hear what I was thinking but everyone around me had conspired to make sure I never found out. I even thought there might be news bulletins on telly about my thoughts whenever I went out of the room. How self-absorbed is that?
I took piano lessons in grade school. The book with the music in it also had illustrations of the composers that were very lifelike. The one of Johann Sebastian Bach really freaked me out and I thought he was watching me with this stern expression. (The fact that he'd been dead for 200 years made it even more eerie.) I had to hide the music book in a different room when I wasn't using it, because his eyes followed me everywhere. I couldn't even learn the piece because he was looking at me. Finally my dad glued a piece of paper over the face, which took some explaining at my next lesson...
I'm 32 and pictures of Bach still give me the creeps. I don't play the piano anymore, either.

My Nana told me that she was an Irish princess who lost her estate to the English and that I was one too. One day we were going to reclaim the throne.
I used to believe that my toys came to life when i wasn't there. I used to creep up the stairs and open the doors really quickly so one day i'd catch them. Strangely enough i never did!!
I always used to think that I could enter different places such as 'Gardenia' (Through the Giant Oak Tree in my Schoolyard) while others couldn't. I always thought myself 'special'.
i really wanted a voltron of my own and my dad said he'd build me one. but I was talking about the "real thing"! I thought I would be flying over my city fighting evil by the afternoon! :-)
I used to believe I was Michael Jackson (keep in mind I was a little white girl and he was a little black boy). I couldn't understand why people laughed when I told them "my name's not Ashley, it's Michael Jackson"!
