When i was five i used to think we were all dolls living in a HUUUGE doll house (from Thomas the Tank Engine) and that a girl would drive the cars around and move us about from place to place. When I was seven I thought Barbie dolls came to life in the middle of the night and wanted to kill girls that didn'y play with Barbies (from watching the movie Chuckie). And finally when I was 11 I thought that if i jumped and ran very fast and very high i would stay in the air for a few seconds like in the Matrix, I tried it once and I ended up Spraining my ankle really badly... that's what you get form the influence of tv.

i used to believe that inside my marbles were real planets and that they were inhabited.i thought that if i kept them in the dark for too long those people would die.so for years i'd get my marbles out every morning and put them back into their box every night.i'd feel terrible when i forgot sometimes as i thought they didn't get dawn unless i did it.i even took my box on holidays with me

Untill my 13th i used to believe everybody had a telepathic bond except me. It was a test, so i started testing them (that's you). To see if they would react to things i hadn't said yet... (Now being 'old' and wise iv'e found out it's called morphogenetic resonance by Sheldrake)

I rememember getting a helium balloon, and mom tied it to my wrist so I wouldn't lose it. But it chafed, so I squirmed my wrist out of the knot. Sure enough, it slipped out of my hand and floated away. I was unfazed, believing that when Dad got home, he could just get the ladder and climb up to get it (just like he did when my ball was on the roof of the garage).

when i was about two i made this felt picture for my dad and he hung it up at his work. It was really good and is still there, i always used to wonder how on earth i managed to do such a great picture, unil recently mum told me that she actually helped a little (so basically she did the whole thing)

When I was about 5 my mum bought me a little plastic toy plane - I couldnt wait to get home as I thought it would really fly because it said 'pull back for short take-off' on the bottom. Can you imagine the mental torment finding that when you followed the instructions it just trundled forward across the carpet?? People get counselling for less torment these days. I was devastated!!

Bizarrely enough, I managed to convince myself at the age of around 5, that by looking at the peg that was revealed when you removed Action Man's then squashy head, you would go blind. Well, you do don't you?

I used to cut mu dolls' hair in the belief that it would grow back again like ours does.

I used to think that when I went to sleep my toys would all come to life and play games. One night I wanted to stay up and watch them, but I thought they might realise I was still awake and wouldn't be able to come to life and play, then they'd be cross with me. I went to sleep not wanting to risk it.

As a four year old girl I went on a Ride to the Moon with my dog. I always believed I had been there and that my dog was the first dog on the moon, because my mother said so. I even had a fight at school defending that belief.

I used to believe…

That if i didnt put all my teddy bears in bed with me, and cover them with the quilt they would all get cold in the night, and would would get me the next night. Needless to say i woke up most nights very hot.

when I shared a room with my older sister, she told me if I had to go to sleep early. As my teddies & dolls would come to life at midnight & they would run away if I was still awake. A few years later, to get my younger sister to sleep, I told her the exact story. It worked as she has all her teddies locked away in a cupboard, so they won't run away. Years later she still has them hiding.

One time, when I was little, we were at the beach on a really hot day, and my cousin was flying a black kite shaped like a stingray. A storm rolled in so she had to take the kite down really fast. When she got the kite down it was hot and when she touched it, it burned her. And, as she got burned she said something like, “Ow, he got me.” After that, I always believed that kites could bite you.

I used to believe that I was a robot, because I have heard a sort of chirping sound from my head ...

I also believed that I was destinied for greatness and that all the people I met in my life would be interviewed to give an insight into the kind of person I was ...

and another thing I believed - I could get any woman I wanted, it was just a matter of me meeting them (actresses and models included) and them falling head over heels in love with me ...

apparently not.

Me and a small group of my friends used to play "Victorians" when we were about 7. This involved pretending to wear crinolines and carry candles and oil-lamps, alongside the usual mums and dads type stuff.
I have only recently discovered this is not entirely normal. My boyfriend thinks it's hysterical.

My dad and grandmother used to tell me never to play cards on a Sunday otherwise the Jacks would frown at me. To this day it scares me.

when i was little i had a little miss muffet bean bag doll that i carried with me everywhere. when she started to leak beans, my dad and i took her to a park and left her on a bench by the lake. he said that a mermaid would come out of the water and take her to a magic land where she would become a real girl (loosely based on my favourite story at the time, 'the velveteen rabbit'). for a long time afterwards, i would look at girls on the street to see if i could recognise my old doll.

I got a toy green VW Beetle as a present one christmas. It had black window, and would zoom around the floor when it was wound up. As our family car at the time was a VW Beetle (green!), I believed that my toy car must have a family like ours inside.

So one day I sneaked a hammer out of my fathers toolshed and tried to smash a window to see the family. I ended up smashing the car....and only found the 'engine' inside!

when me and my neighbour were small girls we believed our toys and dolls would come alive when we weren't there. We extended this belief to bodily functions, but as we never saw the dolls go to the loo, we figured they needed some help. We held them over the loo but nothing happened. Mum asked what we were doing but I guess it seemed harmless so she left us to it.

Upset because the dolls didn't appear to be able to wee, we did it for them. In a jam jar.

Later that day I took my mum a jam jar full of my wee to show her what my dollies had done. She was unimpressed.
