Up until the age of eight, I used to think all Sophies around the world formed a kind of sisterhood. They, of course, shared the same interests, the same mood, the same character. They worked undercover and they were oh so special
I had the exact same feeling about left-handed people except that they were even more special.
Believe it or not, I'm a left-handed Sophie!
as a young boy I watched a film where a a cowboy fell off a horse after riding at breakneck speed across the desert. The marshal said "He's dead from loss of blood!". for years i believed riding horses fast would drain your blood. I never saw the bit where the cowboy had been shot before the desert riding scene. To this day I am wary of horsed
I used to believe the whole world was an illusion and that only I was real... The whole world was an illusion much as in matrix... but it was a physical illusion intended to study me by alien scientists.
I used to try and look around corners to areas they maybe forgot to 'texture' yet, or maybe to places where the 'actors' forgot to pull their suits on and looked like aliens.
I used to believe that when I slept over at my grandmother's house (on the 4th flour of a apartment building), Superman would come one day and give me his powers so I could take over his job as the young Superboy!
What do you want? I was 6 years old!
When I was about 4, I used to pretend I was a mouse named Sara. I would make my mom run around the house looking for me yelling "where's sarah?" then I would squeek while hiding under my bed. For some reason I always wore a bathing suit with a duck on it.
When I was about 4 or 5, I believed that all my toys were real. I thought they came to life when I was out of the room, so I would try to look under the crack of my door to see if they were moving. I really wanted my "My Little Ponies" to come to life especially.
When I was a little girl I used to believe that I was a "secret celebrity". A "secret celebrity" was a kid who was going to be really famous when he or she grew up. Grown ups could tell who these kids were because they had some kind of aura or magnetism to them, and they would stare at the young "secret celebrities" in awe. Since grown ups always seemed to be looking at me I KNEW I was a "secret celebrity", and was destined for greatness. I sure thought a lot of myself! It wasn't until years later that I figured out everyone was staring because I was a goofy, rambunctious little girl!
i use to think i was a leopard and i used to chase the the birds in the park and people used to throw bread buns at me behind my back and say shoo, shoo you dirty filthy big cat, go away and eat some tuna. Children called me names because i drew all over my face considering myself as a leopard.
When I was little I believed that my dolls, barbies and teddies were alive and I'd walk out my room, but look quickly round the door to see if they'd all woken up and were moving around... I'm afraid to say they never did :-(
I thought that my teddy bears and other stuffed animals were alive. When it was cold outside, they all had to be covered by the blanket in my bed or they might get sick or even freeze to death.
In my Girl Scout handbook there was a line about how a sculptor can 'see' the figure in a block of stone. I took that to mean that if you chipped away at a block of stone or wood you'd find a wonderful surprise in the form of some fabulous sculpture inside. I tried it with a block of plaster of Paris and all I got was a big pile of dust.

I used to think that I had magic powers!!!!!!!
I used to believe that toys were actually alive, but whenever you were in the room they stopped moving and talking, much like in Toy Story. Needless to say that sometimes, I think I still hear movements in rooms without me in them...
I believed that when you shut your eyes tightly and shook your head really fast, you'd forget everything that was just told to you...As if you were shaking the memories off your brain before they stayed for too long and became permanant. For years I told my parents and all my friends every birthday and christmas present they were going to get from me, as long as they promised to shut their eyes and shake their heads after I told them.
I used to believe in the childhood days that our dresses get shortened after certain period so we can wear it for dolls, without knowing that we used to grow.Later my cousin explained me the process :))
Because I was adopted I was sure that my real parents were a prince and princess from different royal families who were at war, so after I was born they hid me with a "real" family so that I would be safe. I was sure that when the war stopped and my royal parents could be together again that they would come and get me. I told my mom and dad that I would find work for them at the palace so we would not miss each other, but that my little brother could not come. I believed this until I was about 10 or 11, and then just could not convince myself any longer.
I used to believe that people vanished as soon as I went away. They would show up when I called them or visited them. But when I wasn't around them, they were non-existent.
When I was little my dad told me that my favourite doll went to sleep when I did, so if I didn't go to sleep she would get tired and grumpy and not want to play with me. For ages I pretended to be asleep as long as I could hoping that if I quickly opened my eyes I'd catch her with her eyes closed!
My parents emigrated from the UK to New Zealand when I was very small. My brother told me that we were special as all our blood was blue and thats why you could see the veins through the underside of my wrist. The next time I hurt myself and saw red blood I thought there was something seriously wrong with me and my brother explained that when our blue blood reaches the un pure air outside it gets tainted and turns red ! Without a lie, I truly belived this throughout my whole childhood !
