This is a bit long, so just hang in there :)
When I was little, my family moved around a lot, so I went to about 5 different elementary schools. In second grade, there was this huge drain tunnel that went into a hill beside the playground.
This thing had to have been at least 3 feet in diameter. Big enough for little 2nd graders to get into. My friends knew that I moved around a lot, so we were all convinced that I would move again after that year was over (which I did, but anyways).
We were also convinced that, when I left, I would leave via the drain pipe on the playground. I would just walk in there, and keep walking unitl I got to the other side (wherever that was). Apparently, my being shorter than my classmates (by a good foot) meant that I traveled differently than everyone else...
So, the entire last week of school, my friends would throw rocks and sticks in there to make sure there were no snakes. Then they all threw in some of their favorite toys, and I would save my lunch every day and throw it in. This was so that I could have something to remember them by, and I would have plenty of food for my trip.
The night before the last day, I double-checked with my mom about the plan for me to go through the tunnel. I asked her if she would meet me on the other side, and she looked at me like I was crazy.
I spent all of recess that next day getting everyone's stuff out of the drain pipe.

When I was little, my older brother and sister used to tell me that we were placed in "baby-bake ovens" when we were born, and that was why we were black.

My stuffed animals would have parties with each other while I was gone
When I was about 6, I imagined a sort of targeting system in my mind, and thought I could run faster and do anything anyone else could do better, and for three days I roamed around the school playground thinking I was in fact, Robo-Cop.
when I was little I joined the brownies group and when I got there I looked around and asked the leader were are the brownies she said scattered through out the camp so I went in search of brownies I found about ten girls but no brownies so I went up to the leader and said I mean the chocolate kind she pointed to a tent with a lable that said African american children I was very confused about this until I found out there were no actual edible brownies its just what the camp was called.
I used to belive that the sky is the only thing we see when we go up and that we are trapped inside the earth.
When I was a kid, I had a lot of teddybears. I believed that when no one was around they came alive. So when I left my bedroom or went to sleep, I made sure that the teddybears who I believed were friends where placed so that they could easily talk to eachother. I also feld very guilty when I stepped on a teddybear... sometimes I even said "sorry" out loud.
Shortly after the Truman show came out I decided that my life was like the Truman show. I came to this conclusion because in Elementary school I always bought books from the Scholastic book fairs and book orders. On most of the books I bought I kept discovering this little tiny green circle on the cover which I was sure was a camera. The situation grew from there. I remember a couple of times being in the bathroom and talking to the cameras saying that they were sick for putting cameras in here and if they were going to film my life they should at least give me my privacy.

I used to believe that if you color with a black crayon on a piece of paper over and over again that it would turn to gold.
When I was around 6 or 7, I was scared that robbers would break into our house and steal my favorite doll. She was valuable to me, why wouldn't she be valuable to robbers?
Until I was around 10 years old, I believed that I was the smartest person in the world, and that that was because I could think about things before I did/said them. I thought everyone else just opened their mouths and words came out all on their own, but I could control what came out of mine. Ummm... don't think so...
When I was a kid I would always complain to my mom that I was bored - she was pretty good at coming up with fun things to do but if she couldn't think of anything she used to tell me to use my imagination. I had no idea what an imagination was - I don't know why I didn't ask. For some reason I came to believe that my imagination was the colours and lights I saw if I closed my eyes and pressed on my eyeballs. Needless to say, I didn't have a very good opinion of imagination and couldn't understand why my mom was suggesting this to me as a form of entertainment.
Due to the overwhelming influence of tv shows and movies, i used to believe that all of my toys, mainl the stuffed animals, were alive and frolicked in my room at night while i was asleep. i would try to wake up at random times in the middle of the night and jump out of my bed as suddenly as i could to catch them in the act. needless to say it never yeilded any results, though i continued my efforts for a number of years.
I thought that people were little dolls and we'd play when the "big" people were asleep and when we were asleep the "big"people would play with us. I told my mom this and she thought the same thing too!!
As I child each night before I went to sleep I would pack all my stuffed animals under my comforter. I thought that if someone broke into my house and tried to attack me, the animals would come to life and protect me. And if that failed I could convince te attacker that it was a huge scary dog.
I used to believe…
that my stuffed animals came to life when i went to sleep and played and then put themselves back to the exact same spot i lef the mbefore i woke up.
Until I was about 11, I used to believe the earth was in a teeny little bubble, and was in a museam, where all the regular-sized people would come and watch us... needless to say, I tried my hardest not to misbehave...
I also believed in Santa Claus until my 13th Christmas
