When I was about 5, I thought you could get free paper from a printer. I thought that if you don't type anything and then click the "print" button, you could get a blank piece of paper without going to the store and purchasing it with money. I thought I was a genius, since nobody had ever thought of it before, until after a few days ago when our printer ran out of paper. That's when I discovered that you need to put paper inside the printer and that paper doesn't just magically come from printers.
When I was a child, I used to believe that my teddy bear was alive.I used to imagine it to play with my others toys.
The girls in grade school said that if your swing on the swing set was synchronized with the person swinging next to you, then that meant you were married. After hearing that, I was really careful who I swung next to.
When swinging on the swing set in the playground, if there was another kid swinging in the adjacent swing and the timing of their swinging became synchronized with mine, it was understood that either of us were obligated to shout, "Get out of my bathtub!" When I looked up this quaint custom on the internet, it seemed to be an actual thing that kids did in the past. Apparently it's such an old custom that the original phrase used to be "Get off my party line!", which of course referred to multiple people having a conversation on the same telephone line. I suspect that this etiquette arose because a swing set can be destabilized, and may tip over when two or more people are swinging at the same frequency and height, and so shouting the phrase was a request for the other person to adjust their own swinging frequency.

I used to think I was a Waterbender (ya know, like Avatar) because when we went to the public pool and I was playing with the water, I noticed that if you push up under the water, the water jumps up a bit. Uneducated little kid I was, I thought "woah, I can control water!" I know now it was just displacement of water and I'm not a superhuman. I also thought this because I could see, talk, and hear underwater. Blissfully unaware that everyone ELSE can see, talk, and hear underwater too.
I used to believe my stuffed animals were alive and had feelings. When I was younger, I got a brand new stuffed bear, and put my stuffed tiger away in the closet with the rest of my stuffed animals (the closet was in a separate room, behind my bed in my room). When I tried to sleep, I could hear scratching behind my head. I was so scared that I threw my bear in the closet and grabbed my tiger, but the scratching continued. Turned out we had mice.
when i was younger,i used to believe the toys could speak
When I was a child, I used to believe that I was inside of a TV show, just like in the movie Truman Show. I used to think that people were robots programmed to be my friends or my enemies, to help me or to let me down, that they didn't have real feelings and that they just pretended to feel emotions and think.
