I used to believe that Everyone on Earth were robots and I was in some kind of govermental experament.
one time i was listening to this lullaby cd with my mom and the lyrics were "jenny rebecca, 4 days old" and my mom said "you were never that young" and i believed her. i thought i had just skipped being 4 days old.
I believed that an evil version of Mickey Mouse lived under my bed, and when i was asleep my good version of Mickey Mouse would have wars against the evil one. One day i found my good Mickey had been kicked out of bed and lying face down on the floor! this was it for me, the evil Mickey had won and i had to sleep on the couch for the next few weeks in terror that i was next! Or until i was certain that the other toys in my room had won the battle.
I used to believe…
for the longest time i believed that my toys could understand what i was saying and would come awake at night and play with each other. for some reason i didn't think all my toys would come awake, just a select few like my stuffed bear and my special dolls. because of this i was always careful to talk to the ones that did "wake up" because they knew what i was saying. conincedentally only my absolute favorite toys were able to wake up. the rest were just toys. to this day i still talk to these toys (which i kept) whenever i do anything with them.
I used to believe that whenever I was home, ghosts and invisible people watched everything I did and critiqued me. John Candy and Bill Pullman's characters from Spaceballs, as well as Jonathan Brandis from Seaquest, and Tom Hanks' character from Splash were all invisible and for some reason interested in my life, so I always tried to be on my best behavior when I was alone so they'd like me.
During my not-so-bright years, I often thought girls were aliens from some distant planet. They were sent here a hundred years ago to this earth to ruin mens lives like the mythological Circe. I've always blamed this on my 1st grade teacher who told us the story of Pandora, the first women in greek myths who was sent as a beautiful punishment for mankind. Convinced that this was true, I tormented boys with all my might. My younger brother and male classmates being the ultimate victims. I spent a long time planning the perfect ways to destroy the species of men until my mission on earth was complete.
It wasn't till I was I got my first boyfriend that I realized that I was wrong. We weren't from another planet, MEN were.
My little brother used to believe that his pokemon teddies came alive at midnight. My mum always regretted telling him this, as he would refuse to go to bed and try to stay up to see them.
My sisters friend once told me that them dolls with them facial expressions and wierd mouths had pointy fingers (they were pointed out like a 'peace sign' on all of the dolls) used to come alive at night and when you were sleeping they'd poke your eyes out with their fingers. I was terrified for weeks after that and locked all my dolls in my wardrobe.
when I was five I saw toy story and was convinced that my toys were alive so I'd talk to them and one time I left a video camera in my room while my family and I were gone and hope I'd catch them on tape but when they didn't move I thought it was because they knew I left a camera I believed this untill 2nd grade
I was very hung up on superheroes when i was a kid... So i invented my own...
(The amazing) NAKEDMAN!!!
I was not completely naked though, i was wearing one of my mothers shawls as a cloak. I ran around the apartment yelling "Naked man, dadadada."
Since i lived on the first floor, this superhero died sometime when my friends just happend to pass by one of the windows...
I used to be positive that when I left the room, my parents would turn into glowing green skeletons. They would then begin to plot against me. I used to try to catch them transforming all the time! Opening and closing the door on them real fast didn't work. :(
When my Mom taught me to play the card game "War", she told me the higher card wins. So I thought that meant the person who put their card higher up on the table was the winner. It made me mad that she kept taking all the cards, when it was clear mine were "higher".
I used to believe my stuffed animals would be sad, lonely and cold if they didn't get to sleep next to me. I'd rotate them every night so that they all had a turn to be warm and would not be the ones to fall out of bed. Even the ones I didn't like very much would get a turn.
When i was younger, my brother always used to tease me...(like they do) We would argue about who mum would love more...and one day, to really pee me off...he turned round and said "Mummy doesn't love you...you gooseberry!" I don't know why...but from then on i always thought i was a cabbage pacth kid, but found under a gooseberry bush!
When I was little I used to think that everything had feelings. Even inadimate objects. Before I went to bed I would spend at least a half hour saying goodnight to every object in my room, my stuffed animals, my bed, my bookshelf, all of my little trinkets and toys. I was afraid that if i missed one they would feel left out and wouldn't like me anymore.
When I was younger,(I'm 15 now) I was convinced that there were hidden cameras all over my house and that people were videotaping me for a T.V. show. Needless to say, when the movie "The Truman Show" came out, I was doubly sure of it. I would sometimes sit in front of the mirror (an optimal hiding spot) and talk to the people who were taping me!
I used to believe that my life was a giants dream and that when he/she woke up then I would dissapear. I then came to the conclusion that my dreams were or another world which dissapeared when I awoke. I used to pray as hard as I could that he/she would not awake and make me vanish.
When I was younger, I used to believe that my toys and really all "inanimate objects" were all sentient. I would talk to anything in my room from time to time to let it know I appreciated it. I also strongly believed that, contrary to what everyone told me, things can, and do, just disappear on occasion, or get up and walk away of their own accord. Now that I'm older, of course, I know that it's true.
When I was younger I used to kiss whatever stuffed animal was on my bed goodnight, but then I started thinking about all the other stuffed animals I had...they didn't get goodnight kisses!! So I used to kiss my hand a billion times and then blow all the kisses all over my room so that all of my stuffed animals could have one, and that way they wouldn't feel bad!
I used to believe that my sister's dolls had a crush on me. So whenever I had to go in her room to vacuum or clean, I would always try not to make eye contact with them so they wouldn't think I liked them back
