When I was a kid I thought I was special and was the only person that could see the clouds moving across the sky

When I was a little girl, my parents would sometimes tape record my voice just for fun ... and probably also to preserve the sound of my little voice for when I got older, so that I could hear what it sounded like. :) Anyway, one day my mom and I were playing and she had me speak into the tape recorder just for fun. She played it back to me, and I was *so* confused ... I asked her who the little boy was inside the machine. I thought that there was actually someone inside there talking. She said, "That's you!" I didn't believe her. :)

When I was little I used to believe I was the only Jackie in the world. My bubble was popped when a new girl came to school named Jackie. I was so mad at her.

I used to believe that everybody saw things completely differently - like, I was the only one who could see humans as humans... and maybe other people saw them with tails and stuff. Don't ask.

When I was young, I was blessed with a very good memory. At 5 I was able to remember and recite poems, songs, and stories after only hearing them once. I could play checkers with the best of them. Because of this gift, I believed that I was not of this world. I believed that I would not grow old like people of earth. I believed that when I got big, I would be stronger than people of earth. I believed that when I got bigger, I would have special powers, like closing my eyes and seeing what was happening somewhere else. I also believed that when I got big, I would be able to leave my bed and go outside and play. Then, I turned 6!

When I was little, I had a favorite stuffed animal; a beluga whale. I also at the time thought all toilets led to the ocean, and when you flushed, your... whatever... then went to the ocean. I loved this stuffed animal so much that I thought he should be free to swim with his kind. I was heartbroken the day I realized I had to flush him so he could be with his family. My father, needless to say, was pretty disgusted when I had him pull the little white wale back out of the toilet. After many, many washings and many, many years, I still have that stuffed animal.

when I was in third grade I saw this show on TV about this boy that had a teddy bear and when he packed away when he was older it came alive and burned his house down as revenge. this was supposedly true, and me, being young and niave, thought that would happen to me. so I always gave all my stuff animals more pillows than i had at night, and never insulted them....hey I talked to them too!

I used to think that everyone in the world was a robot... except me. My mother kept telling me that the world didnt revolve around me, so I started to think maybe she was hiding something. I thought that if I came around the corner fast enough, I could catch my family/friends/strangers doing "robot things".

When I was little, I used to wish that when I woke up the next morning, I would have shrunk to the size of a thumb, or that I would have changed into a squirrel. I would imagine what it would be like in school etc. I was convinced that this would happen one day.

One Christmas, a friend of my parents came over and brought small wrapped gifts for me and my brother. We immediately held them up to our ears.
The man said "Be careful- and soak those in water before you open them."
All the adults laughed. It was apparently a "bomb joke".
Well, in the middle of the night my brother woke me up, and we did just that. The next day, there were two stained, soggy stuffed animals under the tree.
