When I was little, me and my mom went to the Library. They have those computers where you look up books right in the middle. We both went to them, because I liked looking up stuff about dogs and whatnot. But, what my mom was looking up looked much more interesting. So, I went over to her computer and started reading aloud what it said. "Pubert..." and that's as far as I got. I was convinced for years that Puberty was the brother of Rupert. (You know, from that cartoon about the bear that went on adventures)

I used to believe if you read a book in the dark, you would go blind.

When I reached the third grade, my family moved to a different state and, threfore, I had to attend a different school. It was larger than my old school, so it was already intimidating. The first day, as I was walking down the hall, I saw a sign that said "Walk on the right side of the hall." I thought it meant walk on the 'correct' side of the hall. I was so scared, because nobody had told me what the correct side was.

I used to think that "facade" was pronounced "fuckade" (I accidentally said it that way while giving a presentation in 4th grade - oops!) and I also thought "pisces" was pronounced "pisses".

In second grade, my friend had told me to say "luck" in the name game. I, of course, then ended up saying the "f" word. She then tattled on me and got me in trouble, and I had no idea what that word was or why it was bad until a few years later.

For years, until I was about ten or eleven I believed that when people were saying 'round of applause' they were really saying 'round of the plors' and I imagined little aliens called plors walking round in a circle and clapping.

I was horrified, yet amused when I was walking through town one day with my 7 year old cousin. We walked past the French Connection UK shop, and she suddenly declared at the top of her lungs, 'Mummy said never to say fuck because it's naughty, so why does the shop have it in the window?'

Of course she was talking about the abbreviation 'FCUK'

Bless her!

I used to think that getting "knocked up" meant getting hurt. One day when I was about 5 years old I scraped my knee then told my mom i got "knocked up". You should have seen the look on her face.
