I used to think that the phrase "It's a dog eat dog world'' was its a dogey dog world.

For a while I believed that French version of "Are you Sleeping" was a giant government conspiracy, and that they were trying to cover up secrets by singing a song in French that nobody would understand.

My little brother used to believe that the 'bat man' dance (where you streak two fingers across each eye) was a swear word. My other brother and I used to walk up to him and do it all the time just to get him to think we were swearing at him.

He also believed that teenagers were people that walked around in trench coats and flashed everyone.

I had a dream once that if you spoke while you were moving, you'd turn into an animal. For weeks afterwards, I'd make sure I was perfectly still before saying a word.

one time when i was like 5, my grandma told me she wanted to take me to a ballet sometime. but my dad said, "no, you don't want to go to a stinky ballet. you want to go to a monster truck rally! those are awesome!" and my grandma said, "don't brainwash the girl", and i thought it literally meant sticking my head in a tub full of soap and water, and scrubbing my whole head, until the soap got in my ears and washed out my brain. i was sooo scared of that concept for the longest time.

I used to say "Suck My Blue" instead of Sacre bleu. My parents always corrected me and i never realised why.

when my sister was around 7 she thought doing word search meant circling the letter of each word in the search, ending up with a whole bunch of circles in the word search

When i was about 5, I thought "clouds" were pronounced "clowns" and everytime me and my little sister where outside, we'd look for the clowns in the sky

As a child I read on a sign once "apply within" and at the time I thought it had something to do with apples!

i used to believe that american was an enitrely different language than english. I'm from wales and speak both english and welsh, and i always assumed that this was because england is right next to wales, and the language had kind of "leaked". When i was 10 (i can hear you laughing) a boy from the U.S. came to my school. Everyone thought his accent was totally cool and i said "wow, you already speak perfect english. can you teach me some american?"
