When I was about 6 I was so excited about going to the library. I told my Mom "Can I please get that pacific (meaning specific) Harry Potter book?" I thought specific was the same as my "Pacific Blue" Crayola crayon.

When I was about 4, my family went to get our Christmas pictures taken at a studio. The owner happened to have a glass paperweight that read "Noel" on the front. I asked my dad what Noel meant, and he told me it meant "don't touch", because he thought I would break it. From the age of four until I was about 14 that's really what I believed, but I found it very rude to be posted inside a church during the holidays.

When I was about 6, I had to take CCD. Well, we were reading about the Pope. Unfortunately, I didn't know the word "Pope" so when I had to read our book out loud in class, I read it as "the holy Poop." Needless to say, I was VERY quickly corrected, and I never made that mistake again!

or 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 !

As a kid I didn't understand English at all (I'm French Canadian). So when that little English girl asked me something (I was 4-5) my answer looked like "Aw chaw cho no wo err loo."
I really believed she would understand since it sounded English to me.

When I was young I was really baffled by those signs with a map and 'you are here' on them. I had I kind of mental block, that I just could not figure out how a sign knew where I was. When I asked people they just laughed at me so I came to the conclusion that all 'You are Here' signs were personally erected for me to track my progress through the world. Narcissus complex or what?!

I was confused by words with similar pronunciation or spelling.

- cavalry vs. Calvary (Did they take Jesus to a horse? And what did Jesus have to do with war and the armed forces? I was baffled.)
- prostate vs. prostrate (When I read sentences about men lying prostrate on the floor, I thought that one of their organs had been dismembered and tossed to the floor. Horrifying!)
- Andes vs. Alps vs. Appalachians vs. Adirondacks (Were these different names for the same mountain range? Then I thought maybe all mountain ranges started with the letter 'A'.)
- Mozart vs. Michelangelo (With so many similarities, I didn't realize they were different people. Both were men, and long dead, and European, and artistic.)
- Einstein vs. Edison (Hmmm. Both scientists of a sort...but it didn't help that one made discoveries about the speed of _light_ and the other invented _light_ bulbs.)
