I used to think that you could never count to 100 because 90 sounds so much like 19 which meant that ou would simply continue to loop from 90 back to 19 in a never ending cycle. I also convinced my friends this was true.

When I was about 8 I had never heard a foriegn language before so I thought that when it finally did happen the sounds of their language just wouldn't register so all I would hear is buzzing.

I used to believe that "priceless" meant the same thing as "worthless". I was quite confused when a TV show mentioned that the fossils in a museum were priceless. Surely, those fossils must be worth SOMETHING...

When I was about two years old, I would always ask my mom to read me this particular book. I thought it had great stories in it and for a really long time, it was my favorite book.

Come to find out, it was a picture book. No words at all. I guess it's a testament to my mom's great storytelling abilities, but it still makes me feel like I was lied to.

When I was little, I had this poor habit of repeating every angry thing that I heard on TV because I thought it would make me sound cool. For example: "Mommy, what the hell is that?" "Oh, I didn't wanna come to this stupid place anyway." "Everybody SHUT UP!!!!!" "Will ya knock it off already?" Oh yeah, I heard a lot of this stuff from my dad too (not bad language really, but a lot of the above). My parents would slap me up and down for saying it, and of course never tell me why it was wrong.

When I first learned about French, I thought that every word in English would be the same in Freanch, except 'le' or 'la' would be in front.

Not long after my discovery, I met a girl named Larissa. I had never heard such a funny name before and assumed that it was French (it's actually Russian). That night I looked in my dictionary and found that Rissa means 'the genus Laridae'.

Genus is a species, and Laridae is the scientific name for 'gull' as in the kind of bird.

From then on I thought that my friend turned into a seagull every night and would turn back into a little girl in the morning so she could go to school.

When I was seven, I was in swimming lessons. I was getting changed back into my street clothes in my 'cubicle' when I saw the f word written on the wall.

I thought F*ck was a funny name for some kind of mushroom.

I repeated it until I was scolded by my parents and my sister and we got out of the building asap. I finally learned that f*ck meant something radically different than a mushroom.

Ok. I used to think "fudge" was a swear!

I saw this random movie when I was very little. This boy said a swear, the f word, and back then, I didn't know they cut it out. I couldn't hear it, but a woman called his mother and told her that her son said, "fudge".

Then... the mother put soap in his mouth! I was horrified! I didn't say "fudge" for a VERY VERY long time...
