when i was little, my big sister convinced me that she had invented and patented the word "wow" and that i was not allowed to say it.

when i was younger my dad told me that "shut up" was a bad word and that i wasnt allowed to say it. well when i wanted to say it (instead of "be quiet") i would mumble and hisper under my breath, "shut" then i wouldnt say anything for about 5 minutes. then i would say "up". i thought that if i had enough space in between the 2 words, it wasn't bad.
I thought 100 was the biggest number, but i saw the numbers 112, 156 in different places (like in magazines and whatnot), but it never registered that they were actual numbers. i thought that they were special and i would never have to use them.
However, when i learned that there _were_ numbers that i could use that were above 100, i would count like this: 1, 2, 3....56, 57.... 98, 99, 100, 101... 108, 109, 200, 201, 202... 208, 209, 300, and on up to 500. I never went past 500.
I could never figure out why I didn't say 112 then... duh!
I thought "dozen" was a gigantic number, much bigger than a thousand or a million. My teacher got very confused when I told her that there must be a dozen atoms on the eraser of my pencil if there were millions on the tip.

Up until I was like 10, I thought anything you bought that said "pre-" meant it was done half way and you had to finish the other half (like a pre-sharpened pencil was only sharpened half way).
I once noticed in a book that the author had used a dashes at the end of some lines. Not realising this was just used if a whole word couldn't fit on the end of a line and had to be continued on the next, I proceeded to write an essay with dashes at the end of every line. My Teacher, Sister Isabelle, seemed to think I was trying to wind her up and shit hit my knuckles with a ruler. I must have only been about 5. Nuns!
I was about 11/12, and I was telling my mum and step-dad about a teacher I hated, and I said he was a 'twat'. They were shocked, and asked if I knew what it meant...I thought then it meant a penis, but I never told them that!
I have a little cousin who for the longest time was convinced that a "pervert" meant a dead fish... it sure was funny to hear her call her younger brother a pervert whenever he did something stupid... "Gabe, you're about as smart as a pervert!" ... I guess the statement is still a viable insult, though
i have always spelled "separate" S-E-P-E-R-A-T-E, eventhough someone has corrected me, i still remain mis-spelling it on purpose coz i think this is the way it should be spelled.

Just recently my mom told me about some of the odd things I used to say when I was younger, one of them was this: when my first nephew was born, I was about three and didn't know what that meant. She told me I had a nephew and I replied 'neph-me?' because I thought she said neph you I guess...

I used to tell my brother I spoke this foreing language which was very hard (I made it up as I went) and he actually believed me for a long time!

When I was six or something my best friend had asked her mum what the 'f' word was, saying she'd never tell anyone. Her mum told her it was 'frettle'. My friend told me and for years we went on believing that the 'f' word was frettle!
I never cussed because of my inconsistent parents' reinforced protestant beliefs on me.
When I was in fourth grade a friend had dared me to say the word "damn" at lunchtime. She said go ahead! Nobody will know.No one will care. You won't get in trouble...so I proceeded to do so.
And ever since I was 12 I had the worst
mouth.
Luckily I learned new words since then...
I also have the habit of associating numbers with colours (see: Katy). 3 is yellow, 4 is orange, 5 is red, 6 is purple, 7 is grey. I'm not sure about the others.

All through my childhood, there was a commercial for a group called R.I.F (reading is fundamental) The announcer would loudly say "Reading is FUN! Damental!"
I thought they were saying "Reading is fun- The Mental!"
As in, those children with mental disabilities should read, too.

when I was young, I knew what a jerk was, and I kinda knew what the phrase f**k off meant, so when I got angry at someone I would call them a jerk off, not knowing it was another term for masturbation
