I used to believe…

When I was a wee lad me Mum told me that if I called my sister or anyone a "fool" that I would burn in Hell! For years whenever I heard someone call someone else a "fool" I would think "OOooo you're going to burn in Hell"!

I used to believe…

that the word "horny" was a joke. I played scrabble on the computer when I was about seven years old, when the computer used that word. When I asked my mom what it meant, she told me it was a joke by the creators of the game. I believed that for five years.

I used to think that pages in books were divided into little parts (paragraphs) to make boring writing look interesting, and that the more different-length paragraphs something had, the more boring the book was.

I was vaguely aware of the alphabet although not yet in school. When my older brothers sang the alphabet song, fast, at the L-M-N-O-P part, I thought that that was a letter 'P' that had the quality of being 'Elemeno' (whatever that was) in addition to the regular 'P'...

When I was about three years old, my two older sisters wanted to be teachers when they grew up so naturally I became their test student for all the things they were gonna do when they grew up. They taught me my multiplication tables successfully up to two times ten. So at the age of three, I used to believe anything multiplied by zero equalled zero. And I was right. =)

During one of our family conversations, the subject of gulibility not being in the dictionary came up. My little sister piped up "It's really not in the dictionary, my friend told me".

I used to feel bad for people who spoke in other languages. It would be so much easier for them to not have to memorize all of that jibberish.

I used to believe that it didn't matter how many horizontal lines there are in a capital "E", as long as they are evenly spaced. All my "E";s looked like combs.
