I used to believe…

When I was little, I believed that if a word was written on a line by itself it would get lonely. I used to make my sentence bigger so it wouldn't be on its own.
I also thought that the i's and t's would get jealous of the order I dotted and crossed them.

When I was about seven, my cousins and I believed it was okay to say curse words as long as you apologized to God directly afterwards. We would tentatively whisper, "Dammit!" and then look up at the sky and shout, "SORRY, GOD!!!!"

when i was little i mixed up the story of jack frost (the snow man) and a jack rabbit, so when the ground was frosty my parents would say "jack frost must have been here!" and id look around for a jack rabbit!

I didn't exactly believe it but I suspected that my language (German) was an invention by my parents and that everyone I ever met were paid by them for talking this artificial language.

When I was a child I was believing that everybody who speaks other language than Turkish (my mother language) were aliens who are discovering the World...That is why they were travelling the touristic places!

I used to believe that a hundred and one hundred were different numbers. When I was fascinated with counting that high, I always did a hundred first, then continued to count to one hundred.

I used to believe that to people that spoke a different language, they still heard it in English. My philosophy was that their ears translated their foreign language into English, and my ears didn't have that, so I couldn't understand them.

In the childrens show "Tots TV", i didnt know what language the girl spoke (it was french). So as i kid, i thought she was just really stupid and blurted out random nonsense.

I used to believe that people who spoke different languages just had different ears than us. If someone was speaking spanish, i thought they heard english.

One time when I was doing spelling homework and my dad was correcting it I said "I'm sure I got all the right letters in the words even if they aren't in the right order" That did NOT work!

when i 1st was learning to read i remember there was a store near our house with huge letters reading CARPET. (it being a carpet store) i always thought 'what a horrible place! all those animals having to live in cars all their lives.' poor poor CAR PETS. lol

When I was little I expected every word had an abbreviated version i.e. hamburger to burger, etc. I made my parents drop to the floor laughing when I was 7, asking them "Don't only old people live in condoms?" I thought I was talking about condominiums.

When I was younger, there was an ad for Looney Tunes that took place in a theater. At the end, Bugs Bunny lit up a sign reading "APPLAUSE", and everyone cheered.

I misread it as "APPLESAUCE" every time it aired. I didn't question this, I just assumed that the audience were big fans of applesauce.
