in my native language UN means flour,so when i was 7 i used to see big tanks with UN written on them in war zones and think they used to carry around flour,and i used to believe we were very rich because we had so much flour at home,if they were guarding flour in tanks it must have been very precious but no body ever told me UN meant uited nations!

When I was four and i had just Started school I was learning irish and i thought in irish everything ended in either a or ini (Exp. hata, glovin�)

I believed as a kid that there were "Irish numerals" just like there were Roman numerals. And that the letters for the Irish numerals were S, H, N, and T. (instead of Roman numerals I, V, X, and L - those were the only ones I knew at the time - I learned C, D, and M later)
I used to believe that the abbreviation for pounds was pronounced "labs", and that the abbreviation for ounces was pronounced "Oz" (like the Wizard of Oz)

When I was a kid I used to believe that when people spoke in languages other than english, their brains somehow converted the sounds INTO english, so that they would hear it in english and could therefore understand it.
I used to think that if you wanted to count from 100 to 200, you counted "100, 101, 102..." and so on, until you got to 109. Then it was 200. That belief only lasted about a day or two.

I used to think Braille was the language they used in Brazil. I don't think I knew that Braille was the raised dots on everything.
I used to believe the letters L, M, N, O were the word elemeno, which was an adjective that described some attribute of the letter P. I always wondered what it meant to be elemeno, and why none of the other letters in the alphabet were elemeno.

At my primary school there were signs that said "live cables burried here" when I was little I thought these signs said "live couple buuried here" I thought there was people burried all over my school.
I thought "devil" was a swear for a long time. I also thought that if you swore, worms would grow in your mouth(something my mom said). So that certainly stopped me from swearing! I believed this until I was 9.

When I was little I used to think that everyone in the whole world spoke English. No matter what. So whenever I heard someone speak another language I would always wonder why they would go through the trouble of thinking in English and then speaking a whole different language.

When I was about four years old, I remember exclaiming to my mother that I could spell my first word. Excitedly I told her "I can spell relief... R O L A I D S." (from a popular TV ad at the time)
My mother was so amused by this that she didn't bother correcting me. I continued to demonstrate my feat to other relatives until I finally found someone willing to end my blissful ignorance.

one time i wanted a princess dress at a store, to which my parents responded "someday." i heard "sunday," and it was sunday so i thought they meant later that day, and was very offended when we couldn't go back to the store later and that they laughed at my request.

when i was little i somehow got the idea 20 was the highest number. i made my mom count to twenty for my dad and then proclaimed "and that that's the last number!" i didn't understand why my parents laughed

i used to think when my parents talked that "so and so" was actually a person.
I learned fairly early that "Lt." was the abbreviation for the word "lieutenant", and was very proud of myself for knowing such a fancy word. Except... it was years before I figured out that the "lt. blue" crayon wasn't "lieutenant blue".
I was so paranoid as a kid when it came to swearing. I truely and actually believed that the phrase "shut up", even in a joking manner, was considered cussing.
Whenever I got mad on the playground, I would always yell "BE QUIET!!!" instead of shut up. Needless to say, that didn't really work. ^-^
But nevertheless, it wasn't until the fifth grade until I started saying "shut up".
