As a child, I thought everyone else in the world was so special, because they spoke more than one language, and that english was just a made-up language having only bits and parts of other languages in it...
English, the chili of all languages.

I tried asking my dad and mum about it, but I misunderstood, and for all the years that I couldn't read, I thought my parents were reading in hebrew and greek with their eyes, but saying it in english!

I reasoned that if everyone wanted to go there, it must be some kind of room with toys.
After about a week, I finally figured it out. Boy, I was disappointed!

Never could understand, as a kid, why learning foreign languages was such a big deal. All you had to do was to work out how other people arranged their alphabets.
For instance ABC in English might be UMJ in Italian. So an English 'cab' was an Italian 'jum'. Simple!

In first grade during a history class, I could not pronounce Virgina and West Virgina correctly. Instead I pronounced the female body part that begins with a V.
Most of us were ignorant of the word, but there were two kids in the class who actually knew what it meant, and couldn't resist giggling. My teacher corrected me, but a minute later I would mispronounce it again.
I went home and told my older that kids laughed at me when I was reading outloud during our history lessons. After some deciphering, my cousin told me what it meant. That moment of awareness was the most humiliating moment of my life.

My kindergarden teacher used to read to us, and someone asked, "Why can't we read by ourselves?" I wondered the same thing. She said that we wouldn't be able to do that until we were older because we couldn't 'hear the words in our head'. I thought that you'd have to read outloud for a long time, like 5 years!

One time when I was little, my middle finger hurt. I told my mom, "My Finger hurts!" She took my index finger in her hand and said, "Is it this one?" I said "No! Its this one!" I then flipped her off, but I didn't know that it was bad. She said, "You're not supposed to do that! Bad girls do that!" I then ran off sobbing because I thought I had committed the biggest sin in the entire world!
