I used to believe…
when I was little, I thought that each foreign language was just a 'code', + you could learn it by finding out which letters represented which. The only foreign word I knew was 'oui', so I had a starting point for learning French:
Y=O
E=U
S=I
I was dying to find something writen in French so I could crack more of the code...

When I was about 6 years old, me and my younger brother found the "Lord of the rings" book in my parents bedroom,it was the biggest book we had ever seen, except for the bible, so we thought it was the opposite,the Devil's book, so we hid it under the book shelf, unluckily, it was a library book...
I used to believe that when someone was born, no matter what country they lived in, automatically spoke English, and that their parents would have to teach them their native language.

My older brother would swear a lot around me and tell me that words like f**k and s**t were names. The words Ugly Whore was the name Louisa May, my mothers first and middle name. This didn't cause a problem until someone gave me a doll and asked me what I'd name it. Proudly I said, "She's Ugly Whore, like my mummy."

I had a very long arguememt with my teacher as she had drawn funny letters that werent in the alphabet and had neglected to teach us about elemeno. Se told my other teachers I assume because when I was a little older in other years, my teachers would say: 'This isn't another elemeno question, is it Erika?'

When I was little I didn't really understand how numbers worked, I knew that you could carry on counting forever so naturally I assumed that the number system was cyclic, you obviously couldn't have that many different numbers.
When counting in 10s in my number system you went '10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 20, 30, 40.... ad infinitum
obviously with numbers less than 20 you knew whether they were bigger or smaller than each other, cos you only used them once, but when asked as a child 'is 30 bigger or smaller than 20' I replied 'id depends on which 20'
I'm quite good at maths now..

When I was young, before I knew my ABC's, I didn't understand how it was possible to read without speaking the words out loud. I thought my Mom was being silly when she would read to herself because I believed she was just staring at the page and pretending that she was somehow absorting the content.
