We used to have an army training grounds not too far away from my place which would use the cannons in training. So one day when I was 5-6 my brother told me that the cracks in the black footpath were the footprints of monsters, and the bombing sound the army made was them stomping around the neighborhood.
I used to be happy when I would hear the cannons, glad that I was inside, and I would look out the window trying to see the monsters.

My real name is Tatyana and it means "fairy queen." I've always liked fairies and stuff, and so about a year ago my Mom got me a little present that had fairy dust and a little wand. Now, I'm 19 and I know it's not real, but I have a 6 year old brother. When he saw what I had, I figured I'd give him something to remember when he was older. I told him I was the fairy queen and that I directed all of the fairies to get lost teeth and give kids presents. When he lost a tooth, I sprinkled fairy dust over it with my wand. He believed me without question, and told me I was a really tall fairy. Now I am studying in England while my family is back in America, and he has more lose teeth and he calls me to make sure I'll send the fairies to take care of it.

I used to watch a tv show called the Bionic Woman with Lindsey Wagner. She always fought what I called the Bad Lady Robots. To me they looked a lot like the manicans in stores, and I was sure that the manicans would come alive and were really the Bad Lady Robots and that I would have to fight them. My mom and I always went to stores full of them, and I was always scared to go into the bathroom at this one store because the hallways was dark and eerie and inside was a manican, and I was scared to be in that hallway alone with it.

When I was a little girl my brothers, sister's, and I were the renedition of "Babe's Kids". We were so bad that my mom had to make up this character called the Boogey Man. Everytime we did something wrong she would would show us a picture of the decil and call him the Boogey Man. One day I guess we all pushed her buttons a little too far at the mall and she sped all of us that weren't old enough to live at out in the world and packed our bags. She then knocked 5 times on our bedroom floor and told us to wait there for the Boogey Man to come and get us. She left the room and went to sleep in her bed. We cried for like ever then we came up with the plan. We took shifts all night so that when one of us saw the Boogey Man that one would wake the rest of us up and we would all beat him up. Since he never cam we all believed that he had heard about "Monique's Kids" and backed down....

My friend and I were once very firm believers of Fairies. We knew all about them too! We knew that if you stepped inside a fairy circle( a circle of mushrooms, basically) That you would be taken into their world, and if you ate any of the food there you'd be stuck there forever.
We also had a fairy friend who lived in my house, so we made him a little shoebox home and game him a little bed and everything, and were convinced he really was there.

When I was about 5 I had an imaginary friend named Clarissa; she couldn't be seen, even by me, but I alawys knew when she was there, and exactly where she was. She liked to stay in my backyard while I went inside, and I often went outside to swing with her.

When I was younger I used to believe that if you went into a room with a mirror at midnight, stared in the mirror, and said "I do believe in Bloody Mary" three times, Bloody Mary would appear in the mirror and then reach out to try and grab or kill you.
For years I thought it was true, but now realize it's just a superstition, although I probably won't do it(Just incase, haha).

When I was a kid, I thought that if my hands or feet stuck over the side of the bed, a zombie would grab me and pull me under the bed before eating me. I had my bed propped against the walls for years where I would huddle away from the edge. I still wake up at night when I feel my hand dangling over the side.

From the time I was 6 to 12, I always used to be so afraid of ghosts because I was (and still am) such a big horror movie fan. I would watch those movies constantly, and I dont get scared anymore, but I did then. When I went to bed, I would lay with the blankets right up to my chin and look around the room to watch for ghosts. If I heard the tiniest noise, I would put my head under the blanket. I actually thought that the blanket would protect me from ghosts, along with knives, guns, monsters. I thought that nothing could get through a blanket.

I used to believe…

There was a boy living next door to me who was one year younger and didn't have training wheels on his bike, but the bike still made the sound training wheels make so I thought he actually has them but his mother was a witch and had made them invisible.

I used to believe…

My parents always told me to be good because Santa was watching and putting me on his list. Ever since I always thought that Santa was watching me through the air vent and I swore I could see his eyes!

When I was little I buried an egg in our sandbox because I believed it was a dragon egg. I'd keep it there for a very long time, occasionally digging it up to check on it, and wait for it to hatch.

From being a firm believer, Father Christmas was beginning to wear a bit thin by the time I was nine. Then a newspaper item blew the whole thing. I was quite excited, because everything in the paper must be true, mustn't it (?), and asked Mum if I could help her and Dad leave presents for my little sister, still really into the myth. Actually it was my Mum who was most disappointed - she wanted me to believe in magic just a bit longer.

I used to believe…

My closet used to be connected to a set of stairs to the attic, and I was afraid that the attic monsters would come down and get me while I slept - so my mom got me a stuffed spider on a stick and christened it the "monster bopper". I never felt scared when I had it in the bed with me.

I used to believe that if you flush the toilet Et will come out.

I thought that there were elves in my pillow so the pillow case flap had to face the outward side of the bed. they never did harm just didnt want em crawling around.

To this day when i find i cant sleep, i check "the pillow case flap" and its usually facing INWARD. I turn it around and i fall right asleep. lol... go figure.
