I used to have an imaginary friend named Bob which happened to be a shadow of a tree at night from a streetlight. Well every night I would go to my window and talk to "Bob" so when my parents would come in and ask me what I was doing I would say "I am talking to Bob" They just said Ok just go to bed soon. I sure was freaked out when Bob went missing when the tree was cut down.
I had an imaginary friend named Kelly and her hair was hot pink and was always in pigtails. She had twin baby brothers who had blue hair. She would come out of the cupboard carrying them.

When my brothers and I were little, we shared a room. We also believed that a vampire lived under MY bed, which was the lowest bunk bed. We didn't want to go to sleep, so my mom said "Don't come in the bathroom, because I am making Monster Spray, and it is a secret recipe, so don't come in." She mad e some spray out of water and other stuff, I dunno what. And it was brownish. But hey, at least we thought it worked.

The elementary school I went to as a child had a fairly large playground area, but only the front third or so had any actual playground equipment on it. The teachers had a tough time monitering us if we wandered too far back, so they required us to stay within the closest two-thirds of the yard or so.
Behind the playground was a fenced-off, wooded area with a lot of trees. All of the students believed that the real reason to stay close to the building was because there was some kind of crazy hobo that lived in the woods and would kindnap children who wandered back too far. Anytime we saw a piece or trash (especially paper) on the playground, we would say that it was the remains of some kid he caught and burned to death.
At some point, the hobo changed into Pennywise the clown, which only strengthened our beliefs (it made more sense that an evil clown being would kidnaps kids than some hobo). I wonder if the kids who go to the school still believe that.
I used to believe this about bloody mary,
bloody marry was a 18th or 19th century woman who lived with her husband and 2 children. Then, one day, someone came and killed her husband, and 2 children. She was upset about her husband and 1 child, but she especially loved her baby. She eventually went crazy looking for the culprit, and she died, now if you stood in front of a mirror in a pitch black room and chanted, bloody mary i killed your baby, she will come out of the mirror with a knife and stab you to death. My brother is 15 years older than me, and he always got a kick out of teasing me. One day, he took me into his room at night in the basement and told me that bloody mary lived in his mirror and if I was in here by myself, she would kill me. I didn't go to his room for another 2 years! yeah, I was like 7.....

when I was little, I watched a scary vampire movie, and for awhile, i would never turn my head to the side so that a vampire doesn't come and bite my neck. Also, once when my dad came to tuck me in, i was about 6, I asked him if he turned into a vampire at night and suck my blood. I don't know where that came from!

during a discussion with a 19 year old friend, it emerged that she (still) thought that mermaids were real and sea horses were myths...
...this same friend also accidentally revealed that she thought the moon and the sun were the same "planet". she was a very quiet person and i think i know why now!

I used to believe that humans and aliens could copulate, thus explaining CENTAURS, MERMAIDS and BIGFOOT!

When I was five, my much older brother was babysitting me and we watched a scary vampire movie together. After that night, and for a decade more, I slept with the covers right up to my chin, tightly guarding my neck from vampires that would come and suck my blood when I fell asleep. I went to bed that way, and somehow I woke up in exactly the same stiff position every morning.

When I was in third grade, I had just learned about the concept of UNICEF boxes. I wanted something expensive, and my mom suggested asking Santa for it. Realizing the item was expensive, I thought up, "North Pole Committee for Jingle Bugs" and did chores for people and wanted to go to the mall and give the money I earned to Santa so he could buy the present, or I could write a check and send it to, "Santa Claus, North Pole." but my mom told me multiple times, "Santa doesn't take money from the public. Santa's magic." She told me that Santa or his elves contact the toy companies and say, "I'd like to place an order of 5,000..., 3,000...", or they go out to stores nationwide and present an ID card and take what they need, and no, they don't have to pay." So instead, I donated money to a drive to help kids whose parents couldn't afford to buy them gifts. Then I realized that the reason one can't give money to Santa is because he's not real, and the money could get lost, and that if there was a Santa, we wouldn't need these drives for children whose parents can't afford presents for them.
I disliked crossing this bridge, not amounting to a hump in the road, over a little streamtwo or three feet below but only about three inches deep called locally 'The Brook', for (surely) In the Brook Beneath There Dwelt a Terrifying Troll. Trolls could drag you into the water and drown you. I knew it was always watching when anyone crossed - for I'd heard that to cross certain bridges you had to pay a troll.
I used to believe in the toothfairy. When I put one of my teeth in a glass of water I would find money there the next day. One day I stole my grandfathers "teeth", pulled one by one off using some tools and put them in a glass of water. There was no money the next day, only an angry old man and we had soup for dinner...
I used to belive that I shouldn't go around in the woods in foggy wheather. The evil creatures (the "vetter") in the forest could take me. An old scandinavian belief I suppose.

When I was a young child, I lost a tooth one day at school. I decided to test the Tooth Fairy theory by not telling my parents about the lost tooth - until the next morning, when I went up to my mother crying because the Tooth Fairy didn't leave me any money.
Her excuse was that I didn't look hard enough, and sure enough when I went back ten minutes later there was a dollar bill sitting squarely under my pillow.

Every Christmas eve, I left out milk and cookies for Santa and his reindeer just like every other kid. For some reason however, I became convinced that Santa was a cannibal and if I didn't leave any cookies, he would become so hungry he would eat me.
I think my parents wondered about the huge plate of cookies I left by the fireplace every year.

My imaginary friend is named Corey. I've known him since I was 12 years old. Since we knew people would make fun of us if we talked to each other out loud, we learned to talk to each other telepathically. He's really nice and always comes to visit when I'm lonely.
