When I was about six, my first imaginary friend turned up. Her name was Kate, and she was sixteen, tattooed, and with multiple piercings. I used to adore Kate, but she couldn't stand me, and I'd often go crying to my mother that Kate was ignoring me. Luckily, Kate had a brother, named Montezuma, who was much nicer. He was any age I decided he should be, but was most often thirteen. Strangely enough, I got a crush on Montezuma when I was eight... Yes, they both lasted until I was nine...

When I was younger, I heard that if you said 'Bloody Mary, I killed your baby' in front of a mirror while it was dark, Mary would lock the door, and the mirror would smash. I was so convinced that Bloody Mary could do this anyway, so I used to leave her little sympathy cards by the bathroom mirror.
Incendently, my mother used to call her Bloody Maria...

when I was little, around four or five, I had a couple of imaginary friends. Littlefoot, sara, and Petree from The movie land before time. And peter parker. I always used to look up at the ceiling and say" hey peter! come down from there!!!
I used to believe that the thermostat was actually a giant evil monster. I'd seen them, but I called them temperature adjusters. Not thermostats. Oh, no. The thermostat was very different, ever since I heard, in a hotel, my dad saying what should we turn the thermostat to? I didn't know what a thermostat was, so I went to sleep. But that night, I had "The dream"...
So I was walking into someone's house, when all of a sudden, the door shut behind us, and the house's owner said "*gasp*! The thermostat!" The lighting turned brown, and I could see little shadows on the ground made by the blinds. I looked and saw a shadow before I woke up.

As a child in the early seventies after watching the 20s film king kong with fay wray, i was too scared to sit on the toilet in case i couldnt see behind me that that HUGe gorilla eye was looking through our little toilet window, i was so temted to look but so scared it would be there, i used to make myself cry with fear every time i needed the toilet but i kinda liked it too! then it changed to giant spiders, i had to leave the toilet door open but was terrified that i would see a giant 5 foot high spider walking down the hall past the open loo door. i used to try to finish up so quickly that still to this day i cannot "sit" on the loo for any lenght of time, if i cant do it quickly i dont even try!! i you get my drift!

My mother is Korean and we have a lot of Korean decorations in our house. When I was little we had this really big wooden spoon and fork that hung on the wall in our kitchen (they are still on the wall to this day). They had angry faces carved in them and they looked kind of scary. Somehow I had convinced myself that if you didn't eat all the food on your plate the spoon and fork would come and eat you in your sleep. I had also convinced my cousin the same thing because his mother had a set in their kitchen also. I would get so scared during dinner that I would keep glancing at them to make sure they were still on the wall. It wasn't until later that I asked my mom what they were for. She told me that they were similar to totems that people would put at the entrance of the village to keep evil spirits out. Wow...I was wrong!

When I was about 2 or 3 years old, i CLEARLY remember seeing monsters at the doorway as i tried going to sleep because my parents would leave my door open. I was convinced that they were gonna eat me so I'd hide under my covers all night. I was so scared that I needed to pee and ended up peeing in my bed on a few occasions because i didnt want the monsters to get me.
I once convinced myself that nobody knew for sure whether or not Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, or the Tooth Fairy were real(because I assumed every belief was unknon for sure). When I figured out there was no Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, or Tooth Fairy(which was because I heard my sister say that one of her classmates didn't believe in the tooth fairy, she thought it was just your parents sneaking up on you), I convinced myself, "Is there a Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, or Tooth Fairy? Nobody knows for sure. Some people believe there is one, others say it is your parents sneaking up on you and that the letters are written by volunteers at the post office and the emails by people who created websites. But if it is your parents sneaking up on you and this is where the letters and emails come from, the parents can't see themselves doing it and don't know that they're doing it. And the toy sellers and manufacturers can't see themselves issuing presents to Santa and the Easter Bunny(sometimes the Tooth Fairy did give presents rather than money).

When I was five my dad, an amateur magician at the time, came up with a trick at the dinner table where he would put tangerine skins in his hand, rub a little, and -shazaam- there was a complete and undamaged tangerine. He did it like twenty times in a row, and I never knew how he did it or where the tangerines, let alone the skins, came from, but it was such a convincing show, I believed he could do magic until I was at least 11.

When i was about 5 i thought my soccer team lived in my stomach. When no one was around, I would talk to them. There was one boy on it that i had a crush on, and I thought we were secretly growing closer whenever i talked to him. Sad, eh?
I found out about The Bloody Mary horror legend a few years ago. I heard that when you chanted her name three times she would come out of a mirror and kill you or scratch you. Well I got it into my head that if you think about her, and chant her name in your head she will also come for you. Then I thought, If she can come out of a mirror, She would also be able to come out of every refelctive surface. I have to cover my eyes away from my TV screen and my Computer screen at night now.

When I was little (mid 1980's), I used to beleive that the boogie man was green, and wore a "Saturday Night Fever" type outfit and a hat with a feather in it so he could Boogie! I wasn't scared of him cause I thought, "What harm can he do? He just wants to Boogie!" And I liked to Boogie too!
