When I was 11 I was at a slumber party ( On hallo'een, you know, buncha giggly girls...) and we all gathered in a circle and told scary stories. Later, some of the girls went into the bathroom to play the 'Bloody Mary' game and they didn't come back for a long time! A lot of the shy girls at the party were freaking out because they were gone for almost half an hour! We heard footsteps (We were in the attic room, it was my friend's playroom) and then we saw a pale girl with what looked like blood on her face! We screamed and one of the girls tried to smash her with a CD player...
Can you guess who it was?
Not Bloody Mary, but our host, Nora...
Lipstick and baby powder, all it took to fool us.

When I was little my mom would tell me that there was a monster coming toward our house and the only way I could save myself and my family was to clean my really fast and in doing so the monster would go away.
You have no idea how many times I saved them from that monster.
They owe me big time.

When I was little we would take a ferry to get to my grandparents' house. So when my parents said the tooth "fairy" was coming, I thought they meant "ferry". So I imagined a big ferry coming into my room at night, and the little captain would get off the ship and take my tooth and leave money.

Whenever I acted up as a little girl, my mother would threaten to call '1-800-santaclaus' and tell him what a naughty girl I've been if I didn't straightened up. Then I would cry 'No, don't call Santa claus! I'll be good!'

After watching Pinnochio I thought that all I had to do was wish on a star and I'd get what I wanted. In a month nowhere close to Easter before I went to bed I wished that the Easter Bunny would come. When I awoke the next morning I moved all the furniture around in the house before Mom and Dad got up looking for my Easter Basket. When I didn't find it I asked why Jimminy Cricket lied to me.

When was little I thought ghosts were in the house and had several night-lights and left the door open and the hall light on and to this day i believe in ghosts.

When I was about 5 I used to believe that there were witches in my window at night. When I would lay in my bed I would put my hand over my forehead which would block my view of the window in my room. One night my mom asked my why I always slept like that and I told her it was because the witches were in my window.

When I was younger my parents would always let me read in bed for a little bit, then come to tuck me in. I always believed that at the exact moment that they shut the door behind them, when the lights were out and I was supposed to be falling asleep, my head had to be under the covers. I thought that everything bad in the world: ghosts, monsters, dead bodies, etc. were let out of their daytime confinements at that exact moment. This fear of that exact moment continued from the time I was five to age 10...

I was always a little skeptical of the tooth fairy. I've always been pretty logical about things. One of my teeth were really loose but the stupid thing wouldn't come out. I spotted some Milk Duds (lol) and decided to see if those wouldn't take it out. They did and I was watching TV at the time so I just stuck the tooth in the mini Milk Dud box, put it on top of the shelf by the couch, and totally forgot about it. I told my mom the next day when I remembered about the tooth and told my mom. She said the tooth fairy would come that night. Well... she didn't. I still tell my mom to this day about how cheap the tooth fairy is while glaring at her. lol.

My friend and I used to hang with our older friend and we were at her house everyday, so we always listened to whatever she told us.So one day we went over for a sleepover and she told us that ghosts lived outside and you could see them in the streetlights.but they were deaf so you needed a special way to talk to them.So she ended up teaching us this ridiculas howling sound to get his attention. So we ended up "catching" him in a jar, and he sits on a shelf in her room to this day.

When I was younger, my mom used to do daycare. My friends, my brother, and I used to all cram into the bathroom and do Bloody Mary. We used believe if you turned around 3 times and chanted her name 3 times, she would appear in the mirror. I pictured her like an 18th century Spanish senorita and she would be holding a knife and a rose. Depending on the color of her rose when she appeared, she would do something to you. Different colors meant different things.
Ex: Blue=She would spare your life
Red= She would kill you with her knife
etc....
We would all run out of the bathroom screaming. I still think I really saw her...
We did the same thing with the Candyman and someone else but I don't remember who...

When I used to get floaters (those things in your eyes that float around), I thought that they were fairies and since nobody else could see them, I felt really special. Then in health class, 7th grade, that specialness I had felt was crushed.
I used to believe that monsters were real. Not a huge stretch for a little kid, right? Well, what I would do is every night before going to sleep, I would say a prayer to all the monsters--Dracula, the Mummy, the blob, etc.--and tell them that I knew they were real. I figured that if they knew that I knew they existed, they wouldn't have to come in the middle of the night to try and scare me to prove they were real. And it worked! I never saw a single monster! :-)

When I was in Elementary school I totally believed in Leprechauns and joined in the tradition for many years of building leprechaun traps on St.Patricks day. I thought they were little tiny Irish men- no bigger than anyone's thumb- and that they would drink a lot. I would construct little villages and somehow got some empty liquer bottles from the house then- thinking they would seduce them. I'd also put little gems in the villages. Unfortunately, I never caught a leprechaun- and they aren't supposed to be so tiny! ;-)
