I used to believe…

When I was about two or three years old, my dad used to play a game with me. What he would do was take his socks off, then he made me run around the house for a few minutes. When I came back, he had no socks with him and claimed that he had the ability to send them to "Magic Land." When I ran around the house again, the socks were back in his hands. I believed this for about a month until my mom (who is a total killjoy) videotaped my dad and showed that he never sent the socks to "Magic Land," but hid them under the chair cushions instead. Boy, was I mad. I wouldn't speak to my dad for days. Still, sometimes I believe that there could be a "Magic Land" in existence when a sock turns up missing...

I used to think that if you went somewhere on Christmas Eve, such as your grandparents' house or something, that Santa wouldn't deliver your toys because since you weren't at home, he thought you moved. I would always leave a note when I was somewhere else on Christmas Eve, explaining that I hadn't moved and that I was just over at __'s house, and to please give me my presents anyway.

I believed that fireflies were fairies. This belief became even more true for me after watching Ferngully, where all the fairies when they flew, left behind a colored glow. On top of that I never say a firefly up close so I never knew it was a bug until many years afterwards. So I stuck to my story for a good few years!

When I was little my grandparents told me that there was an old man, "Mr. Brown, who lived in our house and he drowned in the bathtub upstairs. After they told me that, I was horrified of that bathroom and avoided it whenever I could, and used the one downstairs.

Most kids have an imaginary friend or two -- well, I had an imaginary club, complete with both made-up children and some from books I'd read...and a menagerie of animals that we all took care of during club meetings.

When i was little i had many imaginary friends that i thought were actually there. there names are as follows: luke skywalker, yoshi, captain hook, zorro, casper the friendly ghost, r2d2, and long john silver. one time i actually made a birthday cake for yoshi and we had a party with my neighbors. and i yelled at my father and scared him one time telling him "DAD YOU ARE STANDING ON CASPER'S TAIL!!!!" and that scared him but he laughed. i know now that they are not real.

At themeparks, there are always charcters of movies walking around in suits, right? Well, at movieworld, I ran into bugs bunny. I cuddled him, and my parents took photos. Little did they know that I thought all people dressed up like that were real characters- that they wern't wearing a suit, but that was their skin. When Bugs bunny lifted me up, I saw a zip on his neck! He didn't even notice when I pulled it down! I pulled off the head, complete with stuffing to hold it up, and ran away screaming! I was yelling something like, "I decapatat-ed buggy bunny!" I still reckon that some of those dress ups are skins.........

I used to believe that any person or animal that I drew might come alive and get angry at me (for drawing it badly?) Somehow, I alleviated my worry by always drawing the mouth second-to-last (so that it couldn't complain) and the eyes last (so that it couldn't see what I was doing until the last possible second).

My best friend used to always tell me these weird stories, and I'd always believe them. For a long time we believed in the "SHOE FAIRY" - if you threw your shoe on the roof, the shoe fairy would come and bring it back down, so one day we tried it. The only thing that happened was we got in trouble for throwing our shoes on the roof.

I used to believe there was a malicious rat that lived inside the light switches and sockets in my house. I also belived that if I played with these things the rat would come out and kill me. Parents are f'd up.

When I was lil I believed that little people lived in the walls of my house, but instead of being scared of them they became my best friends. I thought they looked kinda like the little people on Fraggle Rock, and I would constantly walk around the house talking to them, imagining they were walking right next to me behind the wall.

When I was lil (probably abOut 7-8)I had an uncle who was full blooded Irish who told me about the Banshee scream. At nite when I would lay in my bed and the heat would kick On, it would make a whistling noise coming through the slots in the heat duct in my room. I became convinced that a banshee lived in my heat duct, and when I fell asleep she would come out and scream in my ear and kill me.

I used to think everyone in the world had an imaginary friend that nobody else could see, because when ever I was in the car and saw people driving past talking (probably singing a song or something), they'd be talking to their imaginary friend!
