When I still believed in the tooth fairy, I REALLY believed in her/him. I always put a glass of water by the bed when I lost a tooth, because the tooth fairy would die the water. My water was always blue, except one time it was green. My mom said that my fairy must be sick and so a different fairy had to substitute. I later learned that it was her that was dying the water, and that she had ran out of blue dye.
I also once lost a tooth at my mom's work, and I wrapped it in a tissue. But by the end of the night I couldn't find it, and I went home and wrote a note to the fairy explaining why I didn't have my tooth, but that I DID lose one and she would just have to take my word for it. She gave me two half dollars for being so honest!

My mom used to tell me that if I stayed awake trying to catch a glimpse of Santa he wouldn't come. I always tried to fall asleep as fast as I could on Christmas Eve.
I also remember one particular Christmas where my brother and I got two of those miniature electric pianos that they make for little kids. We were pretty poor at the time, and I remember saying to my mother, "Well, Santa MUST be real, because you couldn't have afforded this!"
I've had two imaginary friends in my time. The first was called Bully, and was your standardised, everyone's got one, invisible friend. Were IKEA to sell imaginary friends then they would be like Bully, only called Boshtal or similar.
My second imaginary friend was not invisible, but rather microscopic. An antrhropomorphic representation of my immune system, I used to think he was responsible for killing germs and making me feel better. I remember one day comparing him to another friends microscopic friend, trying to determine which was the smallest.

When I was about five or so my dad had a friend who had a daughter who was sixteen. The daughter told me that if the wind was blowing, it meant there were aliens on the roof, and the wind was their spaceships' fans, and they were blowing to keep the machinery cool, like a computer fan. She said if I went outside when the wind was blowing the aliens would abduct me. I was terrified of this for years; my parents had to literally drag me out of the house if they wanted to go somewhere when it was windy.
Then one day I got up my courage and went to look for the aliens. The wind was blowing really hard, but when I looked up on the roof there were none. Then it hit me that I had been had.

My dad told me that the Snap Crackle and Pop elves hid behind the corner of my bowl when I was eating rice crispies. I kept moving the bowl around to catch them but then realized there were no corners. That's when I used a bowl with corners. Still no elves.

My mother always told me that if I didn't break up my egg shells then the witches would use them to sail across the water to get the fairies. I have crushed my egg shells ever since and even make my husband do it too!

Oh, that reminds me. You know how everybody imagine Santa and the elves in a workshop? I had a more pessimistic viewpoint. I thought that they were all in a huge factory inside an even larger igloo. And Santa would run around with a clipboard and whistle, encouraging people to work faster. Meanwhile, Mrs. Claus would serve refreshments.
i used to believe that i actually saw santa one christmas eve when i went to the bathroom. and it's funny, i can still picture that memory as if it really did happen
I used to believe that the two television antennae on the mountain near my home were really the antennae of a giant Martian hiding behind the mountain. Why was no one else concerned?

As a child, mys older sis had me believe that the stop light at the end of the street ( U could only see it above the houses), when it turned red, the Boogie Man was watching me, and if I went outside when the light was red, he was going to eat me...Took me years to realize she made that all up...
I used to think aliens were going to come into my house and abduct me so I tied a rope around my ankle and attached it to the bed so they couldn't drag me out of the house in the middle of the night when I was asleep. I called it my "alien catcher."

When I was a kid my brothers used to play the War of the Worlds musical album. I can remember throughout the record the martians would scream "ulah" or something. I would be hiding under my blankets terrified that the martians were gonna land in the field behind our house and come and get me with the martian death ray. To this day it still gives me chill when I hear the beginning of the recording!
i thought Santa was real because one night i woke up and heard wrapping paper crinkling downstairs. but i fell back asleep before i could do anything. i thought it was Santa magicly putting me back to sleep so i wouldnt see him
I used to have a habit of having my feet sticking out the end of my bed.. for one reason or another my parents didn't like it and so told me that the witches would fly down and eat my toes! From that day forward I have never slept with my toes peeking out of the duvet and even if they did they go straight back in even now!

When I was little my older brother was showing me the saints book with all the saints in it and stuff. Then he flipped the page to St. Nicholas, then I asked how he came in all of our homes in one night if he's dead. I asked this because it said the years from when he was alive then dead. He told me that his spirit just flows through all of our chimneys. Then I got scared and said, "that is freaky"

When I was in Preschool I had an imaginary dog named D.D. We would pretend to plant bombs under the playground equipment and blow up the school. ... Ooookaaay...
Also, in 1st grade I had a giant imaginary bird named Kiwi. He was about as big as a horse and I'd "ride him" around. He was brown with a metallic head. (His real one fell off).
I was a weird kid.
I had an imaginary brother named Jason (I'm a girl) when I was littler. He was older than me, sometimes mean and sometimes nice. When I was home alone I would say stuff (out loud) to him and make up his reply in my head and pretend he said it.

Like some of the previous entries, I too had imaginary friends - all miniatures. I didn't really call them fairies or elves, but they were tiny and I was responsible for their welfare. They lived in my bedroom upstairs which was an older home on a farm. I had them for many years - I don't remember when I finally gave them up. Every once in awhile they come back to my memory, but I don't remember if I gave them names or not.

When I was in fourth grade, one of my friends thought that fertilizer pelets were leprecon eggs, and they would grow into leprecons. We also believed that the spraypainted gold gravel the teachers put out on the playground really was leprecon gold, and we were always dissapointed when our St. Patrick's day leprecon traps never caught anything.
