we use to trick my youngest cousin on family car rides into thinking that my father's van could locate mcdonald's resteraunts. whenever he saw a mcdonalds in the diatnce he would start saying" beep, beep, beep" and my cousin would think that our van had a mcdonald's tracking devise in it.
I used to believe there were little men with spoons inside nailpolish bottles stirring the nailpolish when you shake it. I couldn't wait until my mom got to the end of the bottle so I could try to let them out to play
I used to believe that each house had a name. Unfortunately, our family lives in a townhouse (and still does to this day). This resulted in me naming the entire building "Thomas." Then, when I was six, my parents told me what townhouses were. Now, there are 6 houses in our one building, so I named each one of them. All the people except for the married couple at #4 moved out since then. By the way, our family is at #1 in the townhouse.
#1 (us): Thomas
#2: Michelle
#3: Kevin
#4: Ronald (Ronald is the guy who lives there)
#5: Shaleen
#6: Megan
Also, I went a little overboard and gave them personalities. (No, I'm not making this up, although I will admit this is a little much...)
Tom was a goofy guy. I made this up because we have silly paintings on the walls of our house. Megan liked Tom for this. Kevin and Shaleen were married. Ronald is a nice old man who cooks for all the other houses and everyone likes him. Megan not only liked Tom but she was athletic. I kept wondering why Megan stood still though. Haha!
Also, I named my friend Dalton's house Smokey.

My brother once told me a story about vampires and how they would sneak into your room at night and bite you on your neck. Ever since then, I always made sure I had the sheets were pulled up to my chin so the vampire couldn't see my neck to bite it.

When i was 6 i would look out of the window every night (even today i still look out the window, it's soothing to me). One i saw all these lights in the sky, one every 2 mins. I was so convinced that these were alien aircrafts and so i scream, DAD WERE BEING INVADED BY ALIENS! QUICK DAD DO SOMETHING! My dad played along with it and didn't even think to explain to me what they really were. He told me if i went to go to sleep they wouldn't attack. I believed him and so i did. For years i believed that these lights in the sky were aliens out looking for me (for some odd reason) and so whenever i saw them i'd run to bed, i even had nightmares about this. It wasn't until i was 10 that i realised that they were airplanes coming into land at the nearby city airport. LOL

My older brother told me one Christmas Eve that if I was awake when Father Christmas arrived he would instruct an elf to sew me up in a sack and take me off on his sleigh forever-never to be seen again. No one was allowed to see Father Christmas! Needless to say I was petrified that night...

We live near Washington, D.C. and when I was little, my mom used to tell me that Georgetown University was the Wicked Witch of the West's castle (the buildings look just like a creepy, dark castle). She would tell me that if I misbehaved, she would tell the Wicked Witch to have her monkeys fly to get me. Freaked me OUT!

when i was younger i convinced my cousin that a necklace i wore controlled the weather. it had different colored stones you could put in it and the blue was for rain, the yellow for sunshine and the white for snow. funny thing is, most of the time it worked...i almost started believing in it myself!
I was the baby in my family and my siblings were all much older. I had an imaginary friend named Pukka. Pukka and I played together every single day and he kept me from being lonely. Pukka also went with us everywhere and I would sometimes say (as in throw a fit) that we "forgot" him in the house as we were leaving and we had to go back and get him. My family always indulged me and this went on for years. I am now 44 and lo and behold I am getting mail from Pukka. It appears he is a world wide traveler who has been "friends" with many small chidren who needed him through the years. (I suspect my older brother is up to this, but who knows? Maybe my "imaginary" friend was more real than I thought!)
I had a whole imaginary world, populated with at least 5 distinct imaginary friends, imaginary dogs and cats (even though I had real ones), several fairies (one of whom sat on my shoulder), a younger sister who I took care of, and various gremlin-type (the cute ones) guys that would tag along too. My world had a name and a language all it's own. Needless to say I was an only child! But I have lots of real friendships, a great relationship with my boyfriend and a creative job. So I think all the imaginings were probably good for me!

My parents were never too careful about christmas gifts, or making us keep our faith in the Magic Kings (spanish equivalent to Santa). We saw where they were keeping the gifts a couple times, and heard them placing the gifts in the night some of the times.
I remember I actually believed they were trying to fool me and make me believe the Kings did NOT exist.

Till I was 8 I used to believe that whenever I needed to lock the door of the room i was leaving, I could do so by staring at it and saying Abracadabra(or osme other incantation). Of course, this used to work only when I didn't come back to check whether it worked because if I did, then my touch would open it.
