When I was a little kid my sis told me santa had a red suit cause he dyed it with the blood of naughty kids. I believed that for a while, not anymore though. I still find him creepy.

When I was little, I used to sleep with the window blinds open. But, after I saw The Wizard of Oz I wouldn't let my parents open the blinds because I thought a witch would come and get me.

As a girl, I read lots of books about UFOs (pretty much the same type I still like to read, secretly). And I loved to read in bed, but then, of course, the lights had to go out --
One of the bedroom windows was small and high, and the light fell on the wall right across from me. At one point, I noticed that the shadow wasn't of a tree's branches any more, but of an oval shape on a dark stalk. It looked like the shadow of E.T.'s head and long neck. I stared at it for hours, frozen in fear. It would sway back and forth; it would vanish abruptly, and rise slowly back into view. This happened night after night.

I was so sure this was an alien. What else could it be? What would cast a shadow like that, or move like that? Eventually, I lay there long enough to figure it out. The alien's body was a metal pod buried just beneath the soil in the garden. It withdrew its head in the morning, and extended its neck at night. The alien was an investigator, not harmful or very friendly, but there to study human beings. There was a forcefield around my house that kept it from getting in, but it watched at my window anyway. It could sense if I thought too much about it, and that was why it sometimes ducked out of sight.

Today -- and I mean literally today, it took me that long to figure it out! -- I'm pretty sure it was the distorted shadow of a streetlamp that used to stand a few yards away.

When I was a kid my dad told us that there were Gollywoggles (some kind of sea creature) in the lake. I remember my dad told my brother and I to stay away from the water as he saw a gollywoggle. My older brother freaked out and ran right over top of me and left me for the gollywoggles.
I believed in these until I was about 9.

When I was in 3rd grade I had a friend named Cory. We both had imaginary friends. His was named Gregory and mine was named Sasha. At one point, "Gregory and Sasha" were going out. Then, "Sasha dumped Gregory". Funny, I remember Cory being the one who cried.

When I was in 1st grade I hated cleaning up the usual mess on the floor at the end of the day so I often thought to myself that it wasn't our fault. Mean "Pigs" lived in the cealing and threw trash and paper scraps on the floor during the day.

When my sister was younger, instead of having an imaginary friend, she had an imaginary herd of cows under the stairs!! She used to hunt them into the kitchen every morning, and back in under the staris every night before she went to bed!!!

I am very proud of myself for having a very strong scary belief and actually reasoning myself out of it when I was about 7. My older sister and I used to stay up and watch scary movies (our parent s didn't know) and she liked ones about vampires. Well, there was a cemetary really close to our house so every time we did this I would lie awake for hours just terrified that the vampires would get up from the cemetary and come and get me. I used to make my sister get in bed with me and sleep on the outside so the vampires would get her first and maybe I would have time to run away. This was a real fear. Then suddenly it hit me one night, "How would the vampires KNOW I had watched a scary movie that night? They couldn't see in our house." So there was no reason to be more scared that night than any other night, and actually I never thought about the cemetary unless I had watched a scary movie. So I just figured the vampires were not going to come and it was safe and I could go to sleep and be ok. This logic actually worked for me. I mean, how would they know?

My sister used to have an invisible friend named Shay-Shay. Shay-Shay used to go every where with us. My sister used to even make my parents have a plate with food on it for her. When they noticed that she had stopped talking to shay-shay they asked her y and she said that her and shay-shay got into a fight and she moved to Florida that was the last we heard of her.

When I was little I believed that vampires lived under the carpet on the stairs, and that you had to be careful when you walked up and down the stairs because if you stepped on the wrong spot, your leg would slide into their mouths and they'd eat you.

My mom always said that Santas Birthday was the same as my brother. Then later in life i figured out there was no santa.

When I was about 5-8, I used to believe that there was a toe-eating toad/frog under the sheets and covers of my bed...I really thought that if I stretched my legs out at night and fell asleep like that, the frog would eat my toes off! So I slept curled up as much as possible...but I'd wake in the middle of the night all sprawled out and freak out searching for my toes! Such a weird child....

I requested a "magic wand that works" for my fourth birthday. I knew my wish had been granted when I saw the gift wrapped present. I was presented a tubular shaped object. I was really impressed with how smart I had been, asking for that! It turned out to be a rolled up coloring sheet on paper. It was a scene of windmills and Dutch kids carrying water buckets, wearing wooden clogs and funny hats.

When I was younger every time I lost a tooth I would get a tiny letter that I had to read through a magnifying glass that the tooth fairy himself had signed! I heard some kids saying the tooth fairy was a girl, while mine was named Victor, so I asked my grandmother and she said that there were a lot of tooth fairies, and that she was a close personal friend of all of them. I still don't know how those tiny letters came about.

When we were younger (my sister is about 4 years younger than me) in the mid nineties, my sister wrote a note to Santa telling him that she left him diet 7-up and Saltines so that he could lose some weight. Hahaha!

To this day I believe that Santa only comes to houses where everyone believes, which explains everything. ^_~ I feel bad for him, because kids are so cynical nowadays.

I used to look in the sun and see specks, and i thought they were fairies flying gracefully down into my room. I would always try to catch them. The specks were actually dust and it took me a while to realize that.

We used to decorate our Cristmas tree with yummy candy canes. I always wanted to eat them, but my mom wouldn't let me because she said Santa wouldn't come if the candy canes were gone. We would visit my grandparents on Christmas Eve and every year on the way home I would pray that Santa had dropped off our gifts early so that I could eat a candy cane. One year I secretly took one before Christmas, and that was the year that Santa must have fallen asleep and slept in, because when I woke before the sun on Christmas morning, the gifts weren't there yet. My mom convinced me that Santa was just running late because of the snow, and if I didn't go back to bed and close the door and my eyes, he would skip over us because he was very shy. I came out of my room after a nap, and all the gifts were under the tree. I didn't steal a candy cane again. And I never told anyone that it was really my fault that Santa was late.
