when i was small i had a problem bedwetting, and had to go to alder hey hospital in liverpool where they sorted me out with a star chart - blue star for one dry night, silver for two, gold for a week, etc. my mum added her own which was this - she planted a 'lollipop tree' in our rockery and said that if i managed to be dry for 2 weeks, the fairies would deliver me a lollipop for my trouble. For the next two years, 'Drumstick' lollies would appear in the rockery. I only found out that the fairies were not involved when, at the age of seven, i caught my dad planting a lolly one morning, dressed in a dressing gown and slippers. i didn't have the heart to tell my parents they had been rumbled and carried on with the lolly tree charade for a considerable time afterwards!

when I was a kid I always felt safe going to bed when one of two things were happening--1) it was raining because I didn't think anyone would break in if it were raining and 2)on Christmas eve, I honestly believed that criminals weren't heartless enough to break into someone's home on Christmas

When I was about five, I had an imaginary friend named Tina. I used to try to call her on our old black wall phone all the time. I would ask my Mom, while Tina was on the phone, if she could spend the night...forever. One weekend, we went to visit my Uncle in Orlando. As we were getting in the car, I started screaming that my Dad had shut her in the car door. I don't remember her being around after that.

My parents took advantage of me and my siblings as children for our ignorance. My mom would hide the Christmas tree in the garage, and then not park the cars in there until Christmas Eve. Then she would put a chair in front of the door every day so none of us would go in there. As for our presents, we didn't seem to notice the huge lumpy things draped in bedsheets on the laundry room table.

if I drew a scary picture of a monster I used to have to cover it up with something heavy, like a book, in case it came alive and wanted to get me

When i was in first grade i had an imaginary friend and once in class our teacher was showing us stuff on the overhead, and the light coming from it made a shadow from her glasses that made it look like she had "evil eyebrows" (what your eyebrows look like when youre mad). Well my imaginary friend was making jokes about it so i was laughing and telling her to stop. i bet it looked pretty weird for a first grader to be sitting there and laughing to herself....

As a child I was afraid of the deep end of the pool. I was a great swimmer. I always swam fine in a lake that was pretty deep, but I was convinced that sharks and piranna lived in the deep end of a pool. For some reason they mysteriosly dissipered when my parents swam with me.
I belived all through my childhood (up to 15) years that monsters could only eat me if I was awake, they hid under my bed and anytime they thought I moved they would come up to see if I was awake. This led to many wet beds as I woke up when I had to pee, but I was to scared that if I moved the monsters would come.

As a result of watching too many Dracula movies, i used to believe that when you die you had no choice but to become a vampire. I used to get so scared about having to have a stake put through my heart more than anything.
I used to think that in xmas films the father christmas in them was the real one, who played himself everytime! Especially "santa claus the movie" for some reason :)

A girl classmate of mine in college admitted that she believed in Santa Clause until she was 13!!! Until someone at school told her for the 100th time and she asked her parents.

My friend had an imaginary friend named Rosie who looked exactly like her other than having brown hair and no freckles. Rosie lived in the shower until one day her sister took a shower and Rosie drowned. How sad.

As a child I had an imaginary friend by the name of Mr. Booble. I always thought it was strange that he was an adult, rather than another child for me to play with. But there he was. We would play cards together, create art projects, build tents, and talk. He would tell me about his world (Booble-Land) and I would tell him about mine. The best part was that I was never bad or wrong where Mr. Booble was concerned. My ideas were always inspired. My plans always delightful. I was an innocent and special to him. And I believe I was loved. Ahhh...if only to have a friend like that as an adult.

When I was little and I heard that Santa Claus came down the chimney and came out through the fireplace, I was perplexed because we didn't have a fireplace. My parents assured me that Santa just came in through the front door instead, but I wouldn't believe this and instead decided that logically, Santa MUST come out through the stove. I always kept a wary eye on it Christmas eve and made sure mom didn't leave anything in it to slow-roast overnight.

I used to believe that unless I sang a song about the saints, monsters would get me when I went up the stairs to my room, or my parents' room. Oddly, once I was actually upsatirs, it was fine. It was just on the stairs that they could get me. The song went like this: "I love the saints! I love peter, paul, luke..." enter as many names as it took for me get upstairs! The louder I sang, the safer I was. I wonder what my parents thought!
