I used to believe that everything I said was being transported into space, and if the 'aliens' out there heard it, they would know where eart was, so they could come and kill all of us. I was not a very talkative child.

When I was about 8 or 9, i went to my friends sleepover and we talked about Bloody Mary. She told me that if you use the toilet at midnight, Bloody Mary would come out of the toilet and stick a knife up my butt. I pictured this in my head, and would NEVER use the toilet without watching the hole in there while I went. Sometimes if I thought she was coming, I'd poop a little extra so it would land on her head. Sometimes I even still check for Bloody Mary.

i always thought that there was a christmas fairy that lived with the easter bunny, tooth fairy and santa.
I was always embarassed because I had believed in Santa Claus until I was in third grade. Then I found out that my dad had believed in Santa Claus until he was in junior high!

For the longest time I used to believe that "Dracula" was a gigantic gorilla with fangs, not unlike King Kong.

My parents invented "Mr. Tooth Decay" when I and my brother were small. I envisioned him looking like the Mr. Bubble guy, only green, scowling and carrying a pic ax. Mr. Tooth Decay would knock on the bathroom wall (while staked out in the closet on the other side) whenever my parents felt we weren't spending enough time or effort brushing our teeth. Our parents told us if he made it into the bathroom, he would take out our teeth and run away with them. My brother and I totally fell for this and lived in constant fear of his arrival. Sometimes, Mr. Tooth Decay wouldn't even make it into the house, instead my dad or mom would yell, "He's coming up the walk right now!" We'd run to the bathroom and start brushing like mad. To this day I still jump if I hear an unexpected knock while brushing my teeth. I wonder what my parents were thinking scaring us like that!

When I was little I used to believe that there were "purple flying snow frogs" in the coners of my room at night. So my mom would give me a water bottle filled with water so squirt at the "Purple flying snow frogs".
I too was terrified of the "Bloody Mary" mirror trick. In fourth grade, a new girl moved into town and she showed me scars on her stomach that she said "Bloody Mary" had given her. Even to this day I get nervous around mirrors in the dark. I'm always afraid that I'll suddenly scream "Bloody Mary" three times and she'll show up. I've always been too afraid to try it.

When I was little, I sincerely believed that there were two ghosts that only I could see. One of them was an English butler who lived in the corner of my dining room. The other one was a drunk, lecherous cowboy with a gun that layed under my grandma's pool table in the basement. It took me years to stop believing in them.
I remember once, the first Christmas I remember, (in kindergargen), we went to my uncle's house for Christmas, and while we were driving the two hour drive back, I thought that Santa would've left more presents for us at our house, and was sorely disapointed that he hadn't, even though my mom told me he probably wouldn't have.

My mother would tell me that "The 10 o'clock Horses" come every night to make sure kids are asleep before 10 pm! Of course, i was too terrified to go sleep but always dropped off!

you know after you look in a bright light, and you close your eyes or blink how you can still see the glare that remains in your vision? I used to think that those were monsters, and could only be seen if you blinked enough.
I feared them.
