I used to believe…
When i was little, i went to my baby-sitter's house who happened to have her own place. Her boyfriend came over and we watched a scary movie about aliens or monsters or something of the sort coming out of things including the walls. My bed at home was pushed up against a wall and i was convinced that if i touched the wall at all while i was sleeping an alien would come out and get me. I still feel weird to this day sleeping next to a wall.

I used to leave santa beer. i thought that he needed it after dodging brats who would try to stay up and see him. So i left him beer.
on christmas, i couldn't sleep, and i came back down and my mom was drinking santa's beer. so i gave him a whole 6 pack and told my mom not to drink it. when i came down the next morning, there was a note saying santa was in a sled accident. he was drinking and driving and hit the statue of liberty. (i live in Baltimore) after that, i just gave him milk and cookies.
I used ot blieve that dracula would come and get me wen i turnt the landing light off. So i used to run to the stairs feelin scared yet as if someones watching me and i used to jump down the last couple of stairs and run to my mum acting as if nothing had happened!

As one of the most common fears between children is the dark, I used to believe that while i was sleepin these sort of shadow monsters would come out of every dark corner and shadowy area to come into my dream and steal my good thoughts. So I used to lay staring into the darkness refusing to go to sleep. I also remember that at one point i started sleeping with the lamp on so it would brighten the room up but the corners were still dark so i used to go and steal my mum and dads torches and put them in evry corner! This way i new i was safe And fell fast asleep!

Two of my buddies in 3rd grade some how made me believe that a vampire was living under my bed...they told me the only way to keep if from biting your neck was too put blankets on your neck...so everynight, even on hot summer nights i would pull the blankets all the way up to my chin...and if i woke up in the middle of the night and they were down...i'd totally freak out! I realized about 1 year later that there were no such things as vampires...thank you mom :)

The beleif that santa is real is the most common for kids, i know, but my beleif was probably a little stronger. This was due to the fact that every christmas after I went to bed my dad would trash the living room. He would throw dirt around, put boot marks everywhere, spill the sherry i left for santa... one time he even lodged one of his wellies in our fireplace. we had to leave it outside for poor santa to collect! Of course, this gave me a terrible impression of santa, a messy drunk intruder!
i used to have 3 imaginary friends called Ginger, Fred and Betty. Ginger was my husband. I used to talk about him to my nursery teacher. 'Yesterday me and Ginge did this...'

Being an evil older sister, I convinced my 6-year old little brother and his best friend that the static noise heard on the radio was actually "E.T. the extraterrestrial" trying to communicate with them. The two of them spent an entire afternoon attempting to talk to "ET" whilst I smirked in the background... the ruse ended when my brother's friend told his older brother about their productive afternoon - and was put straight.
i not only had one imaginary friend...i had 5. gapa, jhon (couldn't spell john), mark, timothy and timothy (they were twins). jhon was my best friend. when i was 8...they all died except for jhon who went to magic school.

I once had an imaginary friend whom i named 'Almira'. Her skin was completely green, her hair was green and she wore a long green dress. One day on a particularly long car journey i had a nasty argument with her. It resulted in me pushing Almira out of the window, and her being crushed to death under the wheels of the car. For months afterwards i was racked wih guilt, and thought i would be locked up for murder!

My favorite book growing up was one starring Grover from the Sesame Street called "There's a Monster at the End of This Book". My grandmother would always read it to me. The book was about Grover trying everything he could to keep the reader from turning the pages because he was scared of the monster at the end of the book. The only problem was that the last page was missing where the book reveals that Grover is the monster, so for years I was scared that the monster was on the loose and was going to get me.

I used to think that roaches were aliens because it was hard to kill them. I'm still not so sure I was wrong.
