When I was a kid my dad once tried to explain to me that the fictional Santa Claus wasn't real by telling me that He was in fact the one leaving the presents for me. After this I assumed my dad WAS in fact THE Santa Claus. I remember being so proud to have Santa Claus as my father!
i had an imaginary bear who's name was woka. i had him for nearly 3 years. I don't remember how i met him, but he used to live in our chook pen, until one day it burnt down so he had to come and live in our house. i don't remember that much about him, except for when my parents tell me stories about what we did together.
I was an easily frightened child... I used to think that there were aliens that would come late at night (I had very clear images of these aliens, which glowed in the dark.) However, I believed that they would only hurt you if they saw you. So I always slept with everything under the covers, even when it was really hot out, till I was pretty old. On other occasions, later on, I thought that perhaps the aliens could get me no matter what. For this reason I never opened my eyes after I had all the lights off. Not cause this would protect me; just so I wouldn't see them when they were about to kill me; I wanted to pass peacefully, and why scare myself when there was nothing I could do?
Wow, I was a fatalist child...
I told my little brother that the girl next door was a powerful witch who had put a curse on me. The minute I got into bed I was trapped and unable to set foot on the floor until the next morning, or I would die. This meant that he had to run around and fetch me drinks and sandwiches - which he would do. And with a very frightened round eyed look on his face HAHAHAHAHAHAHA !
I used to think that to truly be safe from vampires while you slept you had to sleep on your back with your arms crossed neatly over your chest. That way, if they pulled back the covers they would think that you were already undead and leave you alone.

where i come from there's something like santa clause. he looks like the pope in a red gown, riding a white horse and he's got helpers in bright outfits and they have hats with puffy feathers. they would pop down the chimney and put gifts and chocolate in your shoes.
when my family moved to an apartment, with no chimney, i used to believe they'd have special liquid helpers. they could glide through our heating system, very flexible workers.

When I was little I had a few video's I used to love and one day my brother was so sick of them he broke one and left one on the radiator so the tape went all brown and crusy. When i found out I was really upset, and even more so when my brother told me that it was the boogie monster that did it, as his way of marking me so he could come back later and get me!

When I was a small child, I always wondered how Father Christmas knew whether or not you were naughty. My mother told me that Father Christmas knew because the Sandman tipped him off (the Sandman being the fairy that makes you fall asleep every night).

When I was around 4-5 I had two imaginary friends named Schaffer and Kaffer. They were twin Russian boys who had a magical submarine, and together we would go searching for "The Ruby of the Black Forest. I have vivid memories of floating down a river in a creepy forest on top of a submarine, even though I'm pretty sure it never really happened. I once invited my grandfather along, and he in return he gave me what he said was the real Ruby - a plastic turtle with a bright red rhinestone on its back. Kaffer, who was the "bad boy" of the twins, told me it wasn't really the Ruby but I should pretend it was so I didn't dissapoint my grandfather.

When my uncle was little, he had 3 imaginary friends who always "got" him into trouble. Thei'r names were Onk-ink, Zaif, and Johnny Catalog. (?) My grandma caught him shoving a stick down a kitten's throat once and his reply was: "Johnny Catalog made me do it!"

My brothers used to make me believe that the BORGER MONSTER would come for me every night. They would make me believe that it wants to pick my nose, and after it picks my nose I would bleed to death. They would make up little lies like onece when the gril brook, my brothers said that they say the "boger monster" standing on it last night looking into my window. I got so scared that this bogor moster was going to come and pick my nose to death, that I used to go to bed with clothespins on my nose, so the bogor monster couldn't pick it.

When I was little, I used to always want horses, but my mom always said no. So I pretended to have a horse. People would wonder what I was doing when I used to swing my leg up in mid air, and jump. I would just say "I am getting on my horse" Then I would pretend to ride this "horse" around in public. I would make horse noises, and get on and off it. My parents thought it was cute, before I got carried away, and started a "farm" of horses, and started selling them.

As a joke, my 10-year-old brother, at christmas time told me when I was four that Father Christmas was not at all jolly, fat, and nice to little boys and girls. He said that Father Christmas was evil, and would give kids nightmares who believed in him. I was so angry with Father Christmas that night before Christmas that I took some Laxatives from my parents medacine cabbinet and poured it into the milk we left for Father Christmas by the fire. In the morning however, my dad was extremly sick, so sick he had to be rushed to the hospital. Later, I found out that I was the one who made him sick. That was the worst Christmas of my life. Not only did I find out that Father Christmas wasn't real, but my dad was very sick. Still to this day, It's hard to forgive my brother for what he did to me.

Before bedtime,I put my lost tooth under my pillow with hopes that in the morning there would be money under my pillow from the "tooth fairy". I was also curious and I wanted to see what the "tooth fairy" looked like because how could I believe if she was real if I never saw her? So, that night, all night I kept my hand under my pillow where my tooth was. However, when I woke up in the morning to my surprise, I found nothing, my tooth was still there! I told my father, and he said, "Maybe she'll come soon." I was discuraged and I thought that I would never get to see the "tooth fairy". I took a bath and when I returned to my room there was money underneath my pillow. I then looked out my window hoping to catch a glimse of the fairy who left me the money. In the sky was a shining star, which seemed odd because it was bright and sunny outside. Then I knew, this wasn't any star, I had seen the "tooth fairy"!

It was Chritmas 1968 when I was seven years old and on the fence about the existence of Santa Claus. Some of my peers insisted that the haul of gifts were simply purchased by parents. I wasn't sure either way. Just days before the holiday my Dad bought a nice console stereo, the old kind that was like furniture. I asked him how much he paid for it and he replied with a straight face "A thousand dollars".
Well, I knew that was a lot of money, I did not know it was an absurd exageration. Based on this inquiry I concluded that there was no way my parents could afford gifts for four children after incurring a thousand dollar expense. Therefore Santa exists!
There is a life lesson in here somewhere, good objective inquiry and linear logic proved the existence of Santa Claus.
I was about 3 yrs old when my dad took me down in the basement because of a tornado. My dad ran upstairs for some reason or another and left me by myself in the large basement-sitting on a reclining lawn chair (I do remember being scared)! I don't remember this part, but he said he came back downstairs and found me chatting away with new "friends". That must have been my way of calming my fear. He said (and I do remember this par) that every night afterwards, I would make him open up the basement door and I'd holler good night to all of my "friends". My dad says when we moved from the house I told him that they weren't coming with us because they liked where they lived.

My mother used to tell me that there was another world called the dopple-ganger world which was exactly the same as this world with people doing exactly the same things as we did on this world. There was another me and another mum on the dopple-ganger world having this exact conversation at this exact time.
She told me that the dopple-ganger world was the real world, and this world was just a simulation.
She also said that whenever we went on holidays the dopple-ganger gods got really angry because they had to do extra work making the simulation. (Normally they just had to simulate our house, school, the supermarket etc...)
I never really believed her, but I thought that was a pretty twisted thing for a mother to say to her daughter.
