when i was young, i had read a scary story about two women swimming in a river, and one of them was grabbed at the ankle and pulled underwater. when she got out, she had a green palm print on her leg caused by a "frogman." for a long time after reading this story, i was afraid of not just rivers and lakes, but my own shower and toilet. i would avoid standing near the drain in the shower for fear of the frogman leaving behind a green imprint on the bottom of my feet. i can't begin to describe the caution used when on the toilet.

My dad told me that Father Christmas was his brother. He even showed me a picture of an old man (who looked like Raymond Briggs'santa) talking to me at a summer barbecue we once had and told me that it was him!! I soon discovered that neither of my parents had any siblings!

In my old house, in my younger years, I used to believe that Freddy Krueger would come out of the ceiling of my shower and eat me. I guess that having no light in the shower contributed to that and watching too many horror movies.

When i was a kid I used to love watching 'Santa claus the movie' at Christmas, and for years I thought the actor playing Father Christmas was actually the real Santa.

When I was 10, I saw Alien. Then Aliens. I then checked behind the shower curtain for a few years to make sure a Facehugger wasn't there waiting for me to use the toilet. :|

A little before my 8th birthday, I was watching a movie about vampires with my sister and brother. My brother who was 6-1/2 years older told us that when people died that person became a vampires. He told me that they could change into any form that they wanted to get inside a person's home (fly, ant, etc.) and would then change back into a vampire and come and bight others on their necks and they would die, and become vampires. Not knowing any better, we believed him, but I think I believed him more.
1 month after my 8th birthday my father. At his funeral, I remembered what my brother had told me, and I became very frightened.
That evening, I cried to sleep with my mother, because I just knew she was the only one who could protect me from the vampires.
For weeks, maybe months I would sleep with the covers pulled up to my head, because I feared that my father was a vampire and would come into my room and bight me on my neck.
Almost a year later, my mother asked me why I would scream out everynight. When I told her what my brother had told me, she explained the truth to me after laughing, and had a nice litter talk with my brother.
I used to want an imaginary friend, although I never had on. I invented an imaginary friend and made her look like one of my best friends just a lot lot smaller.. like knee height. She always wore yellow. Yet I knew she wasn't real, I just wanted an imaginary friend of my own. So really, I had an imaginary imaginary friend.
I used to believe that there was a civilization of tiny people living on a medium sized rock in our back garden. Whenever my dad watered the plants I'd make him water the rock, too, because the people there needed it, or do it myself.

when i was very little, like 2, 3, 4, i was absolutely terrified of the boogeyman. my older sister told me that he moved to florida (far away from where we lived, in massachusetts). i was never afraid of him after that.

I used to belive in the easter bunny, I used to believe that if I saw him I wouldn't get any gifts.
I used to believe that the toothfairy was real and that I could write to her whenever I wanted, so I did. When I moved away to live with my dad when I was ten, I lost a tooth and hid it and I relized she wasn't real and cried.

My sisters told me that there was an evil man called "Mr. Bad Guy," who was the antithesis of Santa Claus. They would tell me, "Megan! We just saw Mr. Bad Guy outside. He was in a sleigh, but one of the reindeer was missing. In the spot of the missing reindeer, there was a sign that said," and at this point they acted very confused, "'Reserved for Megan'!"
I'm sure you've heard of the Gatorwampus. It's a creature that only comes out at night and eats very bad children. My parents used to tell my sisters and me that the Gatorwampus lived in a horse pasture that was behind the backyards of the houses on my street. Needless to say, we were very good children.

Up to this day, I still do this. Everytime I go to the bathroom, I always check inside the shower, to see if anything is in there. I know there isn't going to be, but I just can't help looking!

When I was little I believed that bubbles were fairy eggs, and that when they burst, that was a fairy being born. I was still very against popping them, though, because the longer a bubble could float without bursting, the stronger the fairy would be. Bubbles would also not pop until the fairy was ready to be born, and it wasn't fair to rush the fairies.
I had an imaginary friend named Piggy. I don't know what it looked like but I talked to it a lot. Mainly we played games and raced a lot and our races were always very suspensful and close. But I would always win in the end. Looking back, I know I made up a friend I could win against because I could never beat my older brother at anything!!
