I used to think there were monsters hiding in shoes, so I didn't like it if there were shoes laying on the ground in the room; I would keep turning around because I felt they were watching me.

I used to think that if I was visible in bed, vampires would find me and drain all my blood. Therefore, I learnt to sleep without moving, straight as a plank, completely covered except for a a tiny opening to let in air. In the morning I would then arrange the bed so it looked as similar as possible to how it looked with me in it.

The maple tree in my yard was my "boyfriend". One day we had a tearful breakup because I told it/him, "I can't see you anymore, I'm in love with the apple tree!" Well, those trees were better men than any around here.
I am now twelve and 2 years ago i believed in santa.
The christmas before that, i recieved bike gloves in my stocking. the next year i was at canadian tire, and i saw a pair of bike gloves on the wall. "hey dad, where'd you get those bike gloves you bought me last year??" "MEC. Why?"
"just wondering." that gave it away.

When I was little I had an imaginary friend. I was convinced that he was real... and that he had no arms and no legs. I would try to convince other people that he was real. When I told my babysitter I was sent to a psychiatrist.

When I was a kid, sometimes my Christmas presents from "Santa" would still have stickers on them from Toys-r-us on them. For this reason, until I was about 8 I believed that Santa was the CEO of toys-r-us - either that or he stole the toys from them!
I was very fascinated with ghosts when I was little. When I was about 5 or 6, my family was at my gran's place who lived in an old house which my sister and I used to find pretty scary. Esp. the first floor were we used to sleep. It was dark and full of strange cupboards and attics.
My sister and I were sent upstairs and my little sis fell fast asleep. But I just lay there, not tired at all.
All the grownups were still downstairs, having a good time and I felt lonely and left out.
And suddenly this thought came to my mind of how a skeleton would be climbing up the stairs and entering the room. I couldn't stop this thought, I couldn't get it out of my head, instead it grew all the more intense.
I managed to call for my sister, but she wouldn't wake up. I was really beginning to panic, I broke into cold sweat, because I FELT that skeleton come nearer. And I couldn't even go down to the grown-ups, because on the way down, I would, of course, have to pass the skeleton.
Don't get me wrong, part of me KNEW that there wasn't a skeleton, but that part didn't count at that moment.
Next I began to scream and cry, till I was hoarse, but nobody downstairs would hear me. It was as if I was all alone in the world, as if there was noone left but me.
After an eternity I managed to get up, chase down the stairs with half-closed eyes and run into the safety of the warm, light living-room.
For someone who hasn't experienced a similar thing, all this might seem pretty silly, but when I think of that night, I can even today still FEEL the fear I felt then.

When I was a child, I strongly believed that Giants lived in amongst the mountain ranges. It was something I didn't shake until I was twelve.

One christmas, I think I was about 7 or so, I woke up really early and proceeded with the usual stocking check. However, when I entered the lounge room, I noticed Santa had left his wrapping devices (ie. sticky tape, wrapping paper, the same our presents had been wrapped with, and scissors) on the coffee table.

When i was six i saw the cartoon "The Snowman". I damn near crapped myself, as i was convinced that the snowman was actually evil, as it took the boy away from his parents. It reached the point where if i ever saw a snowman i would either run away of jump up and down on it's snowy corpse, screaming like a madman.
The first snowman i made was at age 15, and i still thought i saw his dull pebble eyes looking at me hungrily . . .
Scary huh?
I thought that nightmares were in fact evil monsters that would come and get me through the heating vent. The sound from the heating vent in our old home was a "shuh-shuh,shuh-shuh," and when it came on,my brother would tell me those were the nightmares coming to get me!

When I was really young, I would believe that the blinking lights on top of those massive electrical posts that are metal where Rudolph.
My mother would tell me during the summer "honey, its rudolph and Santa watching over you all year around."
I would cry because I never got to see the sled - only a blinking red light, that I mistook for a reindeer nose. :)
i used to know that santa wasn't real, but someone was really dressed up as santa because they had a huge scar down their body from where the presents came, and he had to wear the costume or he would scare all the kids.
I used to have a terrible fear of Bigfoot. I was convinced that he was 'just around the corner,' waiting for the perfect time to grab me. It was especially horrible on very windy days. The wind would whip around the house, howling very loudly and I just knew that it was Bigfoot letting me know that my time was up!
Once, while visiting someone's house, I hid in a closet. This house had huge, screened windows and I just knew that it would be so much easier for Bigfoot to reach in and take me away through those things...
...but I'm all better now. I think.

After watching a show on UFO's one night, I was scared of Aliens coming to get me, and I was afraid they'd come with thier Spaceship and abduct me. So every night for about 2 years I stare out the window, dead scared of A UFO landing, untill one nightI figured out I could close the shudders. Man, I was stupid!
