I used to believe…

when i was really small, like 4 or so, i used to believe that if you got too close to a white wall at night, the hamburger helper hand could reach out and grab at you and hold you hostage against the wall, because the walls are white, and so is the hand, so the hand can camoflauge itself against the wall. i was very scared for a long time because all the rooms in any of the houses i lived in were all white.

Sitting in bed reading, my 9 year old daughter said to me, "Mommy, you know when you are in court and you raise your hand and say you will tell the truth, I want you to raise your hand and tell me if Santa Clause is real"! She told me she was the only one in her class that believed and the kids were making fun of her. Well, I did tell her the truth about Santa, Easter Bunny, and Tooth Fairy. Two weeks later she wanted to know if God was real!

There was a house we used to pass all the time on the way to church. It was a very lonely looking house, and the yard was rather unkept. Most of the times when we drove by the house, the front gate would swing open or swing close. It would only swing once. I was convinced that Casper the Ghost lived in the house, and when the gate swung, Casper was moving through the gate. No one was able to convince me otherwise.

When I was little, my mom and dad's door (which you could see if you looked out my bedroom door) had some strangley shaped dark spots on them that were naturally in the wood. When I was a little girl, I used to believe

When I was about 6 or 7 I was visiting with my Grandparents and was bored, so I imagined that the cartoon strip character Hagar the Horrible was living with his friends in the breezeblocks in the backgarden.

When it was time for me to go I invited them all to come home with me. I remember that they always marched in one long line and were about three inches tall. I used to build houses for them out of cards and leave my bedroom door open a crack so that they could come and go.

When I was about five or six, I read in the back of a comic book that you could learn to throw your voice - the drawing showed a man standing there smiling while his voice was coming out of a suitcase. I promptly got out my mom's train case, talked into it and quickly shut the lid. Unfortunately, when I opened the lid again, my voice did not come out. I just couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.....

I used to beieve that the "good fairy" lived in the street lamp at the end of my block.
There was a little door at the bottom of the pole. I thought it was her entrance.
You could hear a noise in the pole and I convince a few kids from my
neighborhood that the noise was her buzzing around!

When i was young (2-5) i had two friends called tootchi and pornogs. Tootchie had a highpitched voice and pornogs had a deep voice (that i used to do, yep, in effect i had conversations with myself!)tootchie and pornogs were elf like things one all in green and one all in red with pointy hats. they lived in a hole in the bannisters and i used to stand on the stairs and look into the mirror at the bottom and talk to them as i could see their reflections. i also used to walk round always holding thier hands, and cried if anyone sat in their place at dinner (as they would be squashing them). they went when my sister was born

I used to think the Easter Bunny was real. I saw him at day care and WAM! he took his head off. . .I cried like a baby becuase I was one.

I used to think that mermaids lived in the lake and that if you looked really closely you could see there tail.

When my sister was younger, I could make her believe anything I wanted. She used to belive that I had magical powers and could make lost items appear. This was because I would hide them and tell her to close her eyes and "chant" while I put the thing in front of her.
