I used to believe…

In order to stop me staying up on Christmas eve, my father used to tell me Father Christmas was an evil tramp who controlled a bunch of equally nasty dwarves. Small boys were known to have been blinded for life by simply glimpsing their hideousness.

My Mom told me, when I was little, that the movie "Night of the Living Dead" was true and that it really happened well before I was thought of in this world. Well, for years, I went over the scenario, in my head, trying to figure out how I would get away should it happen again and I was always so frightened because the zombies could break through windows and things and the people never really seemed to be able to hide anywhere.

When I was young, I had believed I had an imaginary friend, but I was never able to proof it. 'till one day, my birthday (Which I didn't realise), I woke up and found Walki-Talkie's next to my bed. For me this was the proof. I believed it 'till I was about 6 years old...

Yes, me be weird...

I used to believe that all little kids were supposed to have an imaginary friend, and my parents would kick me out of the house if I didn't have one. So I used to pretend I had an imaginary friend when I was with my parents.

When I was little I believed that aliens lived in our freezer. One day, as I opened the freezer to check if they were there, the timer on the oven went off and I ran right out of the house into the street. I thought they were going to attack me!

I was 9 before I realized Santa was a myth. My parents would put us to bed after feeding us lots of milk and cookies and tell us to stay awake for Santa. Of course we fell asleep. Later, at 4 or 5 in the morning, they would rush into the bedroom, wake us and get us excited enuff to rush out to see the presents all around the tree. Presents that weren't there the night before. And we would play all day and into the night, never knowing that our mom & dad were up all night wrapping presents. A really nice memory.

I used to believe there was a huge spider at the end of our hall. I couldn't go down the hall without turning on the light at night....and even then, I'd run to my room, which was at the end of the hall.

It never occurred to me the spider wasn't there in the dark since it wasn't there when the lights were on.

I still hate spiders.

When I was little, maybe 6,7 or 8, I remember my mom got me a book about ghosts. I always wanted to please my mother, wich is why I started bawling when I realized I was scared to death of the glow-in-the-dark childrens book.

My parents used to tell me the tooth fairy had to levitate me in order to get the tooth from under my pillow, so one year I decided to stay awake and see what happened with that. Well, I fell asleep anyway, but whilst putting the money under my pillow, my mother woke me up enough to give me the idea that I'd been levitated. I was thrilled, and ran into the hallway whooping with joy. I believed in the tooth fairy for an embarrassingly long time, especially since I was over the Santa lie by the time I was five.

I used to believe…

My Grandpa told my little brother and I that there was a ghost named Blakemoore, and you could only see his shoes. Whenever we saw an unfamiliar empty pair of shoes sitting around we would get excited and say it was him. After a while it got to where we couldn't see his shoes anymore and he was following us around 24/7. We never really disagreed much over what he was doing. He liked to sing. We would sing with him alot. And whistle.

When I was little, my mom told me that the tooth fairy used all the teeth she got to build a beautiful white castle. She told me that my teeth would be used to build the toilet.

I used to believe in monsters and ghosts, and was especially terrified of vampires. One night when I was about 9, I went up to my room and turned on the light, and somehow a bat had flown in my room. He flew around, beating himself against the walls. I screamed bloody murder, locked myself in the closet and immediately peed my pants. My dad somehow came upstairs and got the bat our of my room, but I wouldn't sleep there for a week. I thought the bat would come back, turn into Dracula, and try to suck my blood.

Imaginary Friends (weird, but true)...

When I was young I had 2 imaginary friends: Panty-Hosey and Panty-Jesus. They were both tan dachshunds. Panty-Hosey was the mom dog and Panty-Jesus was her pup.

When I tell this to my friends now, they always respond the same way: "That explains a lot."

I used to believe that smurfs were real. I never ate mushrooms. I still don't eat them.

I used to believe in vampires. I remember one night going to bed with the garlic shaker from the spice rack because I had convinced myself a vampire was going to get me in my sleep.

I used to believe…

After watching the horror movie Humanoids From the Deep when I was 6, I thought they would come out of the nearby lake and come kill me. I was relieved when I remembered how long it took to drive to the lake and I figured it would take them a long time to walk to my house.

I used to believe that there were alien vampires. I always covered my neck with my whole blanket. I didn't seem to be bothered by the fact the the rest of my body was exposed for the vampires and therefore readily available for bloodsucking if they did come to my room at night. I still cover my neck out of habit when I sleep. I also thought the bogey monster had claws like a lobster instead of hands... would you believe stephen king wrote about the exact same bogey man? I wonder if he believed in the alien vampires too.

I had some pajamas that had the little mermaid on them and My sister and brother used to tell me that it would come out of my pjs and eat me if i slept in them

I had two imaginary friends who lived in my body, Christina in the right side and Michelle in the left side. Christina was good and Michelle was bad, so anytime I did something bad it had to be with my left hand. They used to "fight" with eachother in my mind.

I then learned to associate everything good with right and everything bad with left. I was afraid of the left keys on the piano, and when I first started driving, I was often afraid to make left turns.

I used to believe…

When my sister was very small, she had an imaginary friend named "Kathy" (which is odd in itself, because she's 15 now, and the name "Kathy" isn't what you'd call a popular name amongst people of that age). "Kathy" lived in a circus tent that had an ATM inside of it. When my mother traded in her car for a new Jeep, my sister threw "Kathy" out of the window because she said "Kathy" didn't like the new car. My sister was an odd child.
