I used to believe…
When I was about 6 yrs old, my sister convinced me that our parents were witches. She said that we wouldn't get our powers until we turned 15. She also convinced me they were evil and practiced their magic after we were put to bed. I believed this until I was 8, the day I confronted my parents about it. They laughed at me but I persisted to get them to confess. Then my sister comes in and says, "Really? I was kidding."

My mom used to wrap our presents and put them under the tree as she bought them. This, of course, made my brother, my sister, and myself question the existence of Santa. When asked about it, my mom said that there were just rocks in the boxes and that Santa came around to put the real presents in on Christmas Eve. This was, apparently, a completely reasonable explanation for us that we accepted for years to come.

When I was younger, when I would walk up from the basement and shut off the light, I thought I had to run as fast as I could to a light spot or satan/a demon would get me.

When my sister and I were small, instead of leaving Santa cookies and milk we used to leave him cookies and beer. For some reason I never found this disturbing or unusual until many years later. I just thought that Santa was a beer drinker and never considered that it might be dangerous for him to drink and fly! He always left an empty beer bottle, a mess of cookie crumbs and great gifts so I'm sure he enjoyed it!

You know how your carpet sometimes has bumps in it. Well when I was little I thought it was the devils head and he was trying to get in your house. So I would always go out of my way to walk around them. I was afraid if I got near them he would jump up and grab me.
I used to believe santa claus went into the stores and bought gifts for everyone. I also thought santa claus was a billionaire. I wished he was real so I can get anything I want without financal problems.

When I was very young, around four maybe, my mother bought me a book on the importance of brushing your teeth (I was an early reader). She told me that the tooth fairy wrote the book. One day I got curious to see what the tooth fairy's name was. A clever little boy I looked at the title page to see what her name was. The book was written by a guy.
I used to believe that my stepmother was a witch and, because her birthday IS on Halloween, that on that particular night, she would turn into a black cat. My dad was the one that told me this...only because he knew I would believe anything he told me. lol

When I was younger, I had a nightmare about being attacked by monsters who could only be warded off by playing The Beatles. I took this dream to be an omen of sorts, and started playing The Beatles on my boombox every night to ward off the monsters. My parents weren't exactly happy about hearing Revolution #9 in the dead of night.
I used to believe (due to playful threats from my father) that an alligator lived under our couch cushions. Anytime we would wrestle around, he would stick my arms under the couch cushions and say that the alligator was going to eat me. I always sat in the floor.

When I was about 7 and had just lost a tooth, a friend broke the news to me that my mother was the tooth fairy. I thought she meant my mother was the tooth fairy for everybody! I was in complete awe and asked her where she kept all the teeth.
I used to believe that when I was in my bed, there was a boogeyman under my bed. I thought that if I pulled the covers over my head and no feet/arms/body parts were sticking out from under the sheets, nothing could attack me. I did this all throughout summer and winter, and suffered a lot because I couldn't breathe.

When I was a little girl, I used to think that Daddy's turned into Santa Clause. My father dressed up as Santa one year.Later that day, I walked passed the bedroom and saw him taking the beard off. Instead of assuming Santa wasn't real, I just thought that he had turned into Santa.I just knew I had the Secret to Santa Clause. I told all of the kids at school.
