I used to believe that the other side of the mirror was an alternate dimension, and that my other self was my friend, only that she told me to do bad things. Every time I stole a cookie or terrorized my brother I would tell my parents that she told me to do it.

I used to believe…
My dad started letting me watch MTV cartoons like The Max, when I was really little. One time I asked him if the little black, alien dudes with viscous teeth were real. He told me yes, and that they terrorize little kids at night if their out after dark. Ever since that day, when I hear loud music at night, I imagine them crammed into the cars, biting the heads of chickens and freaking people out like on the cartoon.
I live near an airport so planes fly over my house all the time. However at night I used to sound like they flew slower. I was convinced it was aliens hovering over my house. Espcecially the late at night flights.

I used to believe all the stars in the sky were really just aliens with flashlights shining them at Earth.

When we were younger, my friend and I really believed we were witches and had magical powers. Every Halloween, we would go to the stop sign and say a rhyme to get into Halloween Town.
I have two older sisters and on family vacations, we usually shared one room. Because my oldest sister likes the bed by the window, she used to tell me that I shouldn't sleep in that bed because vampires can come in through the window and would obviously go to that bed first. I started crying wondering what she would do if a vampire came in and she told me that vampires only like girls with blonde hair (i have blonde hair, she doesn't). To this day, i don't sleep in the bed by the window.

My best friend and I used to go over to each other's houses and try to catch leprechauns! We would leave out candy and dollhouses for them to stay in. The weird thing is, once we left out a few oreo cookies in the kitchen, and probably about ten minutes later there was a small trail of cookie crumbs with a tiny chunk taken out of the cookie. My sister was still in diapers and my dad promised me he wouldn't touch the cookies. I've never worked up the nerve to ask my mom if she was the one who did it or not.

This is very weird belief but...when I lived in my old house, there was a closet in the middle of the hallway. I used to believe that there were ghosts, vampires, robots or zombies staring at me and the only way for them to not attack me was to not notice it and to hold my breath. It was very weird
I used to believe that sharks or alligators would come out of the vent in swimming pools. I would rarely go to the deep end and if I did, I would always check to see if something was coming out of the vent.

When I was younger I used to lie in bed and hear thudding sounds. I heard them every night when I was trying to sleep and was convinced king kong was outside lumbering about looking to eat me.
It was only when I was older, that I realised the thudding sound was actually my heart beating!
I used to have a dragon imaginary friend. She was a beautiful purple dragon named Faeliyana. Faeliyana liked to solve puzzles and party with Papami, a paper dragon. She also was calm and peaceful. There was also a two-headed dragon named Earth and Sky.
I used to believe that Santa used to come round to children's houses on Chrismas eve carrying baby Jesus with him. I thought that children had to be quiet so that they wouldn't wake baby Jesus. I used to also believe that if children were very good, Santa would give them some of baby Jesus' toys that he didn't want any more.

When I was 6 my friends saw the movie IT, and told me IT lived under my bed. About a week later I woke up in the middle of the night and my foot was bleeding where something had bitten it. I was convinced IT really did live under my bed and leaped from a few feet away to get into bed for years after.(Turns out my new kitten bit my foot because I was moving it in my sleep)

On a dangerous rural road in Texas there are lots of crosses that people leave for their loved ones who have died on the road. I thought they were to ward off vampires.
I used to believe that Sinterklaas (a Dutch mythical figure who is said to come to the Netherlands every year around December, and then on the 5th of December -his birthday- he rides with a white horse on the roof to throw presents through the chimneys of houses where the good children live, while the bad children are taken away in a sack to Spain -as far as I know, Father Christmas was based on this figure) lived in the house next to that of my grandparents, because it was a big house and the inhabitants had stacked a lot of toilet paper in front of one of the windows, and I figured that was because Sinterklaas and all his Zwarte Pieten (Black Peters, the helpers of Sinterklaas) lived there, and because they were with so many people, they would need a lot of toilet paper. I believed this even though I also believed that Sinterklaas lived in Spain (while my grandparents lived in the Netherlands), and would often look outside my bedroom window in the hopes of seeing one of the Pieten (who I believed would only come out at night, for some reason I also believed that Sinterklaas and the Pieten would all be asleep during the day).
I used to believe when I was younger that if you got hurt and you started bleeding, you would turn into a monster. So when my brother accidentally cut his thumb open with a knife, I started crying and screaming, "Mom! I don't want him to turn into a werewolf!"
