I used to believe…

From about the age of 6-11 I was convinced that a terrible monster, the "red-eyed Hedgehog" lived in the space between my neighbour's fence and our garage. My next door neighbour who was a year or two older than me also believed there was a creature that lived down. Every day when we would climb the fence to each other's houses we would have to run really fast and clamber over the fence super quick so the Hedgehod wouldn't drag us down and eat us.

It took us a long time to get brave enough to go back to each other's houses at night time and often we'd ring our parents and ask them to pick us up.

By about the age of 10 I decided that I had to proove the existance of the red-eyed Hedgehog to my parents, so I set a trap. I got a cat carry cage, tipped it on its side and put a stick up to support the cage lid and then filled the plastic base of the cage with chocolate chips. I was upset to discover the next day that the chocolate chips were half gone and the damned Hedgehog had gotten away. :(

At a sleepover me, my sister and my two friends played 'white witch' in the dark while my mom was in the kitchen. We closed our eyes and said white witch three time and then she (the white witch) would appear on one of our faces.

After we said it three times my friends and my sister started screaming that she was on my face so I took off, crawling on the carpet and jumped into the kitchen... scaring my mother half to death. They, and my mom believed they saw the 'white witch'

Everyone at school used to claim that there was an invisible man named Mr Nobody who lived under the desks at Infant School. I'm not sure if anyone else believed it but i did! He would pull our toes off if we dangled our feet, so we used to scrunch up our feet as close to the chairs as possible! He also had a wife, Mrs Nobody, and they'd run from one table to another and eavesdrop and eat our food. If anything happened and no-one owned up it was Mr Nobody who'd done it.
They'd also do something to do with fire-whether putting it out or starting it, i can't remember. This may be why i am now arsonphobic...

Due to my extreme fear of E.T. (yes that cute little alien), I used to believe that anything the color of brown could instantly morph into E.T. even though the movie never displayed that he had any morphing powers.

I seriously used to think that the random noises made by the old plumbing in our house would just happen to be interpreted as alien speech by some nearby aliens and they would come to investigate and GET me.

Looking back on this one, I'm amazed not by how silly it was (after all, I was a kid at the time) but how amazingly complicated it was.

Craziest thing ever! One time when I was just beginning to read I had gotten a nice big book on wolves. I read it cover to cover, including one little sentence mentioning werewolves. I was terrified. So one night I had fallen asleep in my brother's room and I woke up some time later, having to use the bathroom. So I go out the door and turn to go into the bathroom, but I notice the TV was on, and then a second later it clicked off, causing total darkness. I grabbed my dog and dragged him with me into the bathroom and slammed the door and threw myself against it. The werewolves were watching TV and now they knew there were people to get in the house!!!
I whispered a plan to my poor border collie who needless to say wasn't happy, and gathering all my courage flung open the door and rushed down the hall to my parent's open door. But then I stopped~ My dad worked nights and for the past few nights I had been waking him (at about 5 when he returned home) and he told me never to do it again, but he was in my way of the safety of my parent's bed! He was sleeping on the side nearest to the door and taking a massive leap I attempted to jump clear over him and wake my mom.

It didn't work.
My legs landed on him....very hardly.
He wasn't happy. And to make things worse, I had somewhat dragged my dog on top of him too.

The werewolves?? It turned out it was my brother and he was trying to scare me into thinking he was a burglar....

My dad was magic! When we would drive on the freeway in the rain, if he concentrated really hard he could stop the rain, but then one of us kids would mess up his concentration and it would begin again.
I only realized many years later that we were driving under overpasses!

When I was little (4-7) I used to have an imaginary friend, named Missy. I used to "play" outside for hours, pushing an empty swing and/or playing tag with nobody. I also used to have conversations with Missy all the time, in my room.

Anyway, the day I was moving I got really upset because I thought that I had to leave Missy back in my old home.

Before I moved I used to talk about Missy to my parents and to all my friends.

Then when I was about 10 or 11, my dad told me that my old house was haunted, and they thought that when I talked about Missy I was actually talking about something that walked around my room at night. Of course he would never tell me this when I was younger so I wouldn't freak out.

The thing is I don't know to this day if my dad told the truth or just being yah know..........A DAD.

When i was around 6 or 7 we had a garden out the front. i always thoguth it was really pretty, and would play Fairy Schools, because there were a lot of rose bushes and small leafy green trees so it was like a little rainforest room. One day i invented a fairy friend called Christabelle. Everyday we would go to 'school' and get our name marked off the roll, and just spend a lot of time making daisy friendship bracelets. I did this almost every day for around 2 years lol and sometimes i still go into the special rainforest room and be with Christabelle. Even older kids can imagine!

When I was little, I was told that there was a "Candy Cane" Fairy, and that if you took a broken candy cane, and put it under your pillow, you'd get a whole new candy cane.

I used to sincerely believe that when I turned eleven, I would receive a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry inviting me to attend, just like Harry Potter. I always imagined how fun it would be learning to use my secret magic powers, and wondered if I would eventually get an english accent because the school was in britain. On my eleventh birthday, I was extremely disappointed when nothing came in the mail for me except birthday cards.

I used to believe…

When I was younger, my imaginary friend was Sirius Black from the Harry Potter series. I pretended that he went everywhere with me, and often told my parents what he had said to me that day at the dinner table. Then one day I was sitting on the stairs talking to him, and he suddenly just walked through the wall and disappeared. I yelled "sirius come back" and tried to follow him but of course I ran into the wall. I never could manage to replace him.

When I was younger we used to have these super loud flushing toilets and I would always believe that if I flushed them at night it would tell all the monsters in my house where I was and that if I didn't run to my room and hide under my blankets that they would see me and drag me off to their world and eat me.

One time around Christmas, I wondered why there wasnt any soot on the floors after Santa came down the chimney to put down our gifts. My dad told me it was because he (Santa) carried around a very quiet vacuum cleaner to clean up the soot before he left.

When I was 4 my brother told me that he was an alien, sent to earth to study humans. He told me that he would dissect me in my sleep. I retorted with the classic "I'm telling Mom and Dad!"

His response, "They're aliens, too."

I was terrified of sleeping for months.
