I had two imaginary human friends when I was little: "Junior" and "Naughty Girl." I would even save them seats at the theater and in restaurants. I wish I could remember more about them.

I used to think that there really were leprechauns at the ends of rainbows so I would wander off searching for them. Every time I got to the edge of the building complex I was so disappointed because I couldn't cross the street on my own. I'd slouch back home so sad that I'd never have a pot of gold and I couldn't buy myself a unicorn. I was sure they existed if you had enough money, and they were just kept secret so not that many people would buy them.

When I was little, I decided to make some imaginary friends. Having been inspired by a pen and a tree, I made their names Penna and Treeland. Penna was my best friend, but she was mean to me and teased me. Treeland was really nice to me , but she was only my second best friend. They were in a class of other imaginary friends, who I taught using junkmail and homework.

I had an imaginary friend when I was about six, Steam the Chicken, a spectral rooster composed of water droplets who inhabited the bathroom shower. I would talk to him at length while taking showers, but he would only respond with a series of clucks. The friendship came to an end one day when I saw that Steam had been beheaded, plucked and roasted by some unknown entity.

My dad once told me that stars were really alien space ships orbiting the earth and if I looked at them for too long, they would detect me and come to abduct me. I don;t know why he told me this, but I was terrified and it took me several years to be able to look up at the stars for more then a second.

When my little sister was about 4, she overheard my mother comment, "It's getting close to Christmas. We really should give Sandy a call." - being our cousin Sandy. Well, my sister thought she said Santa and was crazy with excitement that she would get to talk to Santa on the phone. When she never did, she was terribly disappointed and we didn't figure the whole thing out till a few days after Christmas.

I believed that if I put a crown on my head and ate a flower at night, that I'd become a fairy and I'd be able to fly around like Tinkerbell. It never happened.

when my mum used to put me to bed she'd also tidy my room, closing drawers and wardrobe doors, I used to think the reason for this was to stop any monsters escaping and getting me,
I made my twin sister sleep in the bed next to the door so if any monster came in they'd get her first and i could run away (of course i never told her this)
even now if i'm in bed and i've left the wardrobe open I have to get up and close it, i think my husband leaves them open on purpose to laugh at me.
