I used to believe…

When I was about 4 or 5, I got up from be on Christmas eve to use the bathroom. As I walked by the living room, I saw Santa Claus putting out presents. For years I argued with friends that there had to be a Santa because I was a witness.

To this day I've wondered if this was a vivid dream or if my family played an elaborate hoax on me (something my dad would be capable of) but I've never asked. I think I enjoy the clear memory more than being told the truth, or realizing that it was a dream.

I used to believe…

My friend told me that Bloody Mary was actually a cavewoman covered in blood, and that if you walked into a dark bathroom she would come out of a mirror and kill you...and I actually believed her!

I used to think that my best protection against monsters in the night was to pull my blanket over my head. Now, I'm seventeen and it still doesn't feel right if the blanket isn't on my head

I got in an argument with my little sister recently over the size of the Easter bunny...she thought it was a real rabbit but I always believed that it was the size of the big white one in the mall!

I used to believe…

My whole childhood, all the way up until I was probably about eight or nine, every night when I would be lying in my bed trying to fall asleep, if I was laying on my side and the side of my face on my pillow, like if my ear was facedown on the pillow, and I could hear my heart beating...well, I didn't know that it was my heart beating, I thought it was the sound of this army of monsters marching to come and take me and my family away and hurt us and the only way to prevent them from coming was to not lay on my ear like that, so basically, it would be prevented if I couldn't hear them marching.

I found out that the tooth fairy wasnt real by leaving a note under my pillow with my tooth, asking what the tooth fairies name was. I woke up the next morning to find out that the tooth fairies name was "Annabella" and she had the exact same writing as my mum. However I still played along with it for another year or so.

I remember having a big argument one christmas with my friends in school trying to convince them that Father Christmas was real. I was 11 at the time and went on believing for another 2 yrs even though nobody else did. I thought it was a big sin not to believe in Father Christmas because he was actually a Saint.
Its really sweet looking back on it

My brother had an imaginary friend called George who lived in the electric box!

I used to believe at night their was a moon lady and she would come down on a silver ladder and take you up to the moon to drink tea and chat. I know I dreamt the dream when I was younger more than a few times, maybe that's why I believed it was true.

i thought that diseases and bugs were the result of witches coming through the windows of little kids at night and stealing away their "good life" and when it hit autumn the leaves on the tree outside my bedroom window fell off and it was just sticks. i used to frighten myself stupid when it was a bright moon night...the way the branches were assembled looked like two very very scary witch hands on my bedroom wall lol...im 12 now and they still do look like scary hands but im not scared of it anymore.

I used to believe…

When I was little, I used to believe that Pater Pan was real and that one day he would come and get me and fly me away. So every morning I would get all dressed up and wait for him at my window sill.

I was afraid to be in the bathroom with the lights of because of the mirror, and that old thing kids used to dare you to do... say Bloody mary three times and she'd come out. I couldn't help saying it in my head three times and thought she'd hear my thoughts and come out to get me.

i used to believe that Father Winter, as my older siblings called him, would come at night when you hear the wind rustling and whistling on cold stormy winter days, he would swoop in to keep away the children from the mistle-toe because as they say " Mistle-toe is for Lovers! "

Ever since I can remember, I would pretend I'm someone else and make up friends for this person. I've been an actress, dancer, twin, quintuplet, druggie, bording school student, ect. I still do this, not in public obviously, and I'm 16!

When my little sister was three, she had a bottle of body spray which she named smelly. She took smelly everywhere and talk to him/her (not sure which it was). We went on a cruise that year and she left smelly on the boat and was devistated, of course. To make matters worse, when we went on another cruise the next year she couldn't wait to enter the cabin and be reunited with her long lost smelly. Little did she know we were on a different ship, which cause some more tears.

You know those little fuzzy pompom things used for arts and crafts? I used to talk to them. I was also quite convinced they produced pudding...

I had an invisible dog named Masalit. I didn't know how to pronounce Maltese (a kind of dog, which I saw in a book once), so I just said Masalit. She walked on two legs, and had a blue bow on her head. She was only about three inches tall.
Over the years (yes, years... I think I was five or so when it started, but she lasted until I was almost a teenager), Masalit got friends. There was Wolfy the wolf, Foxy the fox, Coyot the coyote, and Bloody the bloodhound. I don't remember why I stopped playing with her...
