I used to believe…

When I was little and we went for assembly in the big hall at Primary school, there were windows that the sun shone directly through when my class sat down, I could see little dust particles floating about, I actually belived they were faeries, when the "faeries" landed on people I thought the child was "choosen" for something and after assembly I would go up to some people the faeries had landed on and say to them you have been choosen, I left then VERY confused as I walked away.

When I was probably 11 or 12, my friends told me about bloody mary. I was at my church and i didn't believe them so they told me to turn off the lights in the bathroom, run in and say "bloody mary, bloody mary i killed your son" (i think thats it) so i did, but there was this blinking red light that was in the bathroom that i didn't know about so i went in there and said it and right when i did the red light blinked and i freaked out and started screaming and then ran into the door while trying to get out.

I used to have an imaginary friend called Hannah. The reason why I made "Hannah" was because I used to be friends with this girl called Holly, but she went off with another girl and I wasn't very popular in primary school, so I was lonely, so I made Hannah up. She wasn't especially weird, she was just a girl about my age with black hair, but for some reason she never had a mouth. Also, she sometimes wouldn't have a nose either, and sometimes I wouldn't call her Hannah but refer to her as 'Natalie' or 'Natasha' but I forgot about her whe I was about 7 because a new girl, moved to our school and I made friends with her instead. But sometimes when she was absent Hannah would come back again, though she didn't really talk or anything, she was just 'there'.

I don't know if this techincally falls under the imaginary friend category, but I supose it will do. When my brother (4 years), sister (5 years), and I (6 years) were little we didn't have imaginary friends. We had imaginary enemies. Their names were Mean Fat Barney and Sally Breaka. They used to always cheat at games and sports. They would also mess up our rooms and throw our toys all over. We would get mad at them tell them to stop but then they would fight us. So we would beat them up and they would go away until another day. Our mom didn't believe that our imaginary ememies were messing up our rooms though, we still had to clean them.

I used to believe that there were alligators in my bedroom carpet, that would attack me if I let any part of my body hang over the side of the bed. Only when the light was on, or mum or dad were in the room, would the alligators not attack me. Blame my older brother for this belief!

in Nursery, my friends said that there was an invisible man beside me called Jim, and that he wanted to be my friend. I looked beside me, and started speaking. After a few days, I believed Jim was real. He was my best friend and if someone sat on him, I would push them and storm off with Jim at my side. It wasn't until Primary 4 that my friends told me they made it up for fun! I believed them for almost 5 years!!!!!

When I was a kid, I used to think there were ghosts in my bedroom. One day my mum came home and gave me a spray bottle full of clear liquid and said it was called "Ghost Spray". She told me to spray it whenever I felt scared and it would make the ghosts disappear. I believed this for years and years until I got old enough to realise it was just water in a spray bottle.

One day when I was in first grade, I was playing on the playground with my friend and she had to go to the bathroom. We went and all of a sudden some other 1st grade girls came to the bathroom and started talking about Bloody Mary. That was the first time I ever heard such a thing. I stayed with the other girls who went out of the bathroom and then back in. One of the girls did a funny thing, she tried to stick her head into the mirror and almost licked it, but nothing happened. I didn't go to the bathroom all day I was so scared. Our teacher had to take the other girls to the bathroom and said it wasn't true. I still think Bloody Mary is really scary.

When I was about 6 or 7, I always used to be able to hear the high schoolers in my neighborhood outside my house early in the morning going to the bus stop. For some strange reason, I always thought that they thought my house was hanuted...I always wanted to open up my window and yell out, "This house is NOT haunted!" Luckily I never did.

When I was little, I believed that the 'koo-ko' (spanish boogeyman) was outside in the dark or in the spareroom of my house and even now as an adult I get more than a little anxious waiting for my dogs to pee or going upstairs to look for something.

When i was a little girl I use to wonder how Santa got into my house because we had no fireplace..only a BIG central hall heater that was right next to my bedroom door. Well one Christmas night i stayed awake to see if i could get a glimps of Santa..and i heard a noise..i sat up in my bed all excited andi heard the noise again coming from the heater where mom and dad said he would come..the next thing i know..the gas cranks in the heater and it turns on..i started screaming "SANTAS ON FIRE..SANTAS ON FIRE!" thats when i learned the truth :(

When I was younger,my friends and I would go and play at the school that was a couple of blocks away.We would sit on the merry-go-round .We had to say "BLOODY MARY, BLOODY MARY COME AND GET YOU BABY" three times while our eyes were closed and acting like we were holding a baby. After the third time we could open our eyes and if you saw her you could let your arms down. But if you let your arms go before the third time, she would haunt you because you killed her baby!!!!

I always saw christmas movies which depicted the dream man that would come and sprinkle dust on you and make you fall asleep at night so you wouldn't disturb Santa. I used to think that he was also the one that slowed time on Christmas so tha Santa could get to every house. So if I woke up in the middle of the night I always thought the time was going real slow and I would move slowly sometimes too!! LOL!!

I used to believe…

Whenever a the sun was caught on something shiny, that someone was moving, there was always that little light on the wall that would move. One day when I was about 5 before I knew how they were caused I asked my dad well really I screamed and pointed to one moving on the wall and said "What is that?" My Dad told me it was Tinkerbell, because we were big Disney fans, still am :), so everytime I saw those light things I thought they were fairies!!

I used to believe…

When I was a kid, my mother would tell us during the whole year that Santa was watching what you were doing, and that's I could tell whether you were naughty or nice, but for some reason I thought that Santa would send his Elves out to watch children and I used to think that elves were hiding in pipes, vents, and behind walls watching everything you did.

I used to believe…

When I was about seven years old, my friend had an invisible friend. Then the day came when she decided that I should have an invisible friend, so she made up an invisible friend for me. I spent a lot of my childhood wondering why she could hold entire conversations with an invisible being, while I could never even start talking to mine.
