When I was younger I spent all my time playing with my sister. She was 2 years older than me, so she started school while I was left at home. So, I made up an imaginary friend. Her name was Julie and she was a vampire. At the time Beetlejuice was my favorite movie, so I decided that Julie could only be reached if you drew a door in the dirt with a stick and knocked on it three times. As my sister began coming home with stories from school I started to get jealous so I made up my own school. After my sister told her stories I told all about my school (which Julie went to also). In my school I had 3 teachers, a mean one, a nice one and a funny one. I even made up classmates giving each of them a different personality. I would adlib stories about them and my sister would always crack up. I should have been a writer.
i used to believe in the tooth fairy and that they took your teeth and built houses out of them and they always took 1 pound from somewhere in tooth fairy land.

When I was a child I used to believe in ''cuca'' (an ugly, green monster). Every night, at twelve o'clock. if the children were awake, she would get a bag and put the children inside!
I think i used to believe in that, because i read a book (telling this story) in the night very late.
I had a lot of imagination!

so I'm Portuguese, and in Portugal there's this legend about a young seamstress, long ago, that was very poor. she made a promised to the Virgin Mary that, if she managed to start earning money with her sewing machine, she would give her first day's pay to the church. but when it happened she didn't, she just spend the money. so after she died (supposedly she died very young and poor) she had to work and work to try and make up for the promise, but she could never because her first day's pay was already spent.
my grandmother was also a seamstress and she told me that, when seamstresses work late, they can sometimes hear the Seamtress' old noisy sewing machine and her crying because she's doomed to sew for eternity.
one night I was staying at my grandma's (I should've been something between 6 and 8 years old) and she was working late sewing some clothes I had accidentally ripped, and I was laying in the couch. when she was done and stopped the pedal, I swear I could hear another sewing machine working! I was scared like Hell!
my grandmother told me the Seamstress doesn't harm anyone, though. she told me she's just a reminder to always keep your promises. I think she was just messing with my head, but I still can't explain where that sewing machine noise was coming from!

First I loved the fairy because I received money in return for a tooth. One year though, I forgot to put my tooth under my pillow, and the next morning I just happened to find a note saying, "Give me tooth by tonight!". I ran to my mom and told her that the tooth fairy is mean because she forces kids to sell their body parts in exchange for money.

When I was a child I used to be scared of a big monster, that in my country is called: Bicho Papo. It's a legend that people believe that this moster eats little children. My mom and my dad usually told me, if I didn't eat, the Bicho Papo would pick me up and take me from my house, and after he would eat me.

when i was young, i had two imanginary friends: shoopa (the girl) and digga (the boy). i still remember what they looked like--they were like rounded stick figures, and shoopa had really short hair, and they were my "children". ( eventually had "hundreds" who "kept me up all night") the children thing is a little weird cuz they were black--which i'm not!! (i guess i didn't get race or they weren't biological...) i had one other, biga (named after a bakery) who looked---i'm not eve kidding---like my great granma! i'm not that weird noadays, though i still laugh when i drive by biga the bakery... remembering my children shoopa, digga, biga, and all the other "hundreds" of kids!!! :)

When I was in primary shool me and my best friend both pretended to be adults ALL the time, it was our favourite game. She was a play-group teacher with a whole class of children (they had names and some had personalities) and I was a fashion designer with an assistant called Linda. We both had husbands (mine was called David Johnson and was Lindas brother) and 13 children (2 teenagers, 8 children of various ages, a toddler, and twin babies). Between us we also had about 50 pets (who Linda and her friends were payed to look after) including horses who we 'rode' to school. After we stopped playing with them I still believed I had an alter-ego called Josie (my middle name) who was living this life, but had divorced David and was now married to Lindas other brother (and Davids twin :S) John. It never occoured to me that this made him 'John Johnson'.

When I was in preschool, my parents took me to the zoo. I loved the petting zoo. I came home with imaginary animal friends. They were each called by the name of their species. Example: Goat was a goat and Sheep was a sheep. They followed me around everywhere and could talk.
I used to believe that there was an evil giant lamb living in my mom's office called The Hunk. I thought that it would come and get me while I was asleep, so I just lied awake all night.

When I was in preK and like 3 years old, we would always have "snacktime" where we would sit at the table and eat pretzels or crackers. Sometimes our teacher would vacuum the class room while we ate. I always laid my head down on the table and heard the noise from the vaccuum and I could of sworn there was a tiny family living inisde the table that were also vaccuuming. And even when she wasnt vaccuuming, I used to tap my fingers on the table and sware it was the little table people.
