When I was younger my older brother told me that I was a vulcan(from star trek). I believed him too because my ears were slightly pointed. He told me that one day they would come and take me back to their planet. It was a couple of years before I learned the truth, that star trek wasn't real.

As a girl, I read lots of books about UFOs (pretty much the same type I still like to read, secretly). And I loved to read in bed, but then, of course, the lights had to go out --
One of the bedroom windows was small and high, and the light fell on the wall right across from me. At one point, I noticed that the shadow wasn't of a tree's branches any more, but of an oval shape on a dark stalk. It looked like the shadow of E.T.'s head and long neck. I stared at it for hours, frozen in fear. It would sway back and forth; it would vanish abruptly, and rise slowly back into view. This happened night after night.

I was so sure this was an alien. What else could it be? What would cast a shadow like that, or move like that? Eventually, I lay there long enough to figure it out. The alien's body was a metal pod buried just beneath the soil in the garden. It withdrew its head in the morning, and extended its neck at night. The alien was an investigator, not harmful or very friendly, but there to study human beings. There was a forcefield around my house that kept it from getting in, but it watched at my window anyway. It could sense if I thought too much about it, and that was why it sometimes ducked out of sight.

Today -- and I mean literally today, it took me that long to figure it out! -- I'm pretty sure it was the distorted shadow of a streetlamp that used to stand a few yards away.

I used to hear a lot of the normal nighttime noises outside my cousin's house, and she told me that it was aliens in a traffic jam going to China.

I thought that the Mexican illegal aliens were aliens from space who were dressed up like Mexicans. Just like what I saw in Men In Black.

Two stories for you...

Myself and my friend (also neighbour) have known each other many years...years means beliefs which we now laugh about.
On of these included Aliens, it started when he got a telescope out, having a good view from his window of the countryside we proceeded to scan around with the telescope.
On the horizon of this view was a pub (Thorn Tree), although looking at this pub through a telescope offered a whole different view! It seemed as though it was a yellow warning sign (like the 'Danger Electricity' ones you see). A yellow warning sign...without a doubt, ment aliens were present in the pub.
This carried on for a while whilst we 'monitored' the pub though the telescope...we even wrote down when they were at home!
Time passed and we built a map on how to get their, however, this was no ordinary, drawn out map...we were 7 or so, and we had more imagination then that! It was a block, made of lego...when held up to the light of his window, revealed gaps in the legos...the gaps showed roads on how to get there. We prepared a trip to the aliens 'pub'.
Packed a bag with drinks and food...and made the long journey there...however the journey spanned from our house to the end of the road. We never made it to that pub.
Were still great mates and joke about this story often.

Another story was (shorter then the other) when I was about 9 or 10. Lying in bed, unable to sleep. As I enjoyed sleeping with the curtains open (still do, cant cope in the dark...I think too much and cant sleep) and I happened to peek out of my window one night, only to see a low flying plane going at some speed, I thought It was a UFO, I paniced and jumped back into bed where I lay under the sheets shaking and then I finally fell asleep...Ive never spoken of this to anyone.

When I was about 8 or 9 i used to think that if I didn't hide under my covers and count to 10 and be asleep by the time I was finished that these aliens would come marching down my street in rows like an army and would stare at me until I was asleep. It scared the crap out of me. So I would always lay in bed and then when I was just about ready to fall asleep then I would count to ten. I'm 14 now and sometimes I think about when I would do this and say "Boy was I dumb!"

When I was little, and I couldn't get to sleep, I used to think that planes going overhead were aliens looking to kidnap children who weren't asleep when they should have been. I was always so scared, I would hide under the covers and shut my eyes tight and pretend with all my whole being that I was fast asleep so the aliens wouldn't take me away.

I told my little sister that E.T. lived in my grandmother's room and he would come and get her if she wasn't careful. She would run past that room to get to hers.

top belief!

I used to believe that the Cardassians would come and get me. This is why a child should not watch Star Trek before a certain age. I?m 15 and STILL terrified of the aliens when the come on TV.

my cousin once told me a story that he heard at camp about aliens that come while your asleep and pluck out your eyeballs and do experiments on them. I was afraid to sleep for a long time after that and if I did, I made sure to cover my eyes, just in case. i actually believed this until I was 10 or so.
