I used to believe that since ghosts were bad they ate everything kids hated like medicine and vegetables. I used to leave the ghosts I thought lived on my back stairs food I hated. Now I realize it was mostly that cats that ate the food especially since I put catfood there alot.

I saw that movie Poltergeist when I was young. I was really scared of the static channels on the television. Ghosts somehow lived amongst the static. If you looked and listened really carefully you could hear and see them

I used to believe that there were ghosts in the attic and even when the lights were on they were there. We lived in a house that was over 200 years old, so I *knew* something sinister had occured there before we moved in, hence the need for ghosts. I also knew that repeating the word "wing" as I went up to get what I needed and came back would protect me from them.

When I was little, my older brother used to sleep in my room on the floor (he was afraid of the dark!!). Well, in the wall, you could hear this faint buzzing sound. And if you tapped on the wall, it got really really loud. My sweet loving brother, who loved to scare me told me that it was ghosts and that our house was haunted. It turned out that it was actually bumble bees in the wall.

I also used to believe that loud singing scared away ghosts and other assorted bogeymen. This always got me in trouble during late night visits to the bathroom.

Still laughing over the vampire's aversion to gingham...

during my first seven years, the window right next to my bed looked out onto our backyard and the railway tracks just beyond our back fence. when the window was raised it exposed a dime-sized hole in the metal screen through which i was terrifed a ghost or a hobo would crawl and "get me".

I used to believe that the packing peanuts you would use when sending a package to someone was, in reality, ghost poop. We are always a little disconcerted by the red ghost poop.

Someone once told me when I a child that if you rubbed cow's tears under your eyes, you can see ghosts, but the bad part was they would haunt you forever. It took me a long time before I stopped believing.

Whilst we were in France we were on a boat ride around a lake that had tiny lilly pads covering the surface. To keep me from the edge, my dad told me that the green surface meant a ghost named Ginni Greenteeth lived under the water and would grab me if they came close. So I had nightmares and for years was afraid of lilly pads.

My brother used to tease my sister and I terribly when we were little. He made up a story about our attic (loft or whatever) that people used to hang themselves in there. As a result whenever it was dark in the attic and I was alone and i'd only gone up there to fetch something down, i'd run up the stairs and down the stairs as fast as possible so that the ghosts of these people couldn't get me.

When I was very small, my parents had cable, and I turned on the T. V. one time just to catch the part in Poltergeist where Carrie-Anne reaches up to the T. V. and she is grabbed and pulled into the aternate universe. My mother saw what I was watching, and she ran to turn off the T. V. I asked her "Mommy, what was that hand doing?" and she said, "it was a friendly ghost wanting to say hello!" Until I was in college, I thought Poltergeist was a movie about friendly ghosts!

I used to believe that ghosts lived in any room that was empty of furniture or people in my house so I was always afraid to go into an empty room. I was afraid of leaking ceilings, too, as they were very scary-looking. Man, I was really a strange kid!

when i was in prep a boy convinced me that there was a ghost called strawberry who lived in the gaps between clouds. we would lie out on the oval and talk to strawberry. i can't remember when i finally realised this was not true, but i do remember telling my friends when i was older about strawberry. they laughed a lot and were very mean about my cloud friend!

When I was little, maybe 6,7 or 8, I remember my mom got me a book about ghosts. I always wanted to please my mother, wich is why I started bawling when I realized I was scared to death of the glow-in-the-dark childrens book.

My Grandpa told my little brother and I that there was a ghost named Blakemoore, and you could only see his shoes. Whenever we saw an unfamiliar empty pair of shoes sitting around we would get excited and say it was him. After a while it got to where we couldn't see his shoes anymore and he was following us around 24/7. We never really disagreed much over what he was doing. He liked to sing. We would sing with him alot. And whistle.
