When I was little, my older brother used to tell me that only monsters don't blink, and would then stare at me, unblinking. I thought my brother was a monster for a long time, and still to this day get a little freaked out when people don't blink for a long time.
On my playground there were a few power boxes with a warning sign that looks like an angry electricity bolt. I was convinced that if you got too close to a transformer a monster would come out and shock you.
When I was a little girl, I believed that there were little men in my ceiling fan. Every night, I would cry for my mom, screaming "There's a man in my fan!" I was 3 years old, and I thought these 'men' were going to kill me.
Instead of having a security blanket as a child, I had a pillow. And I was convinced that every night there was some creatures that would come into my room and try to steal it. So every night I would put this pillow between my knees and have a vice grip on it. If I found it on the floor in the morning I was convinced that the creatures had tried to take it from me
As a child at bedtime, I kept my entire body under the covers. Due to monsters, any exposed skin meant certain death. I told my mom we should invent a bed snorkel so i never had to leave the sheets, not even for oxygen.
when I was little I slept with about 27 stuffed animals in my bed at one time to protect me from the evil monsters under my bed. (I am not joking about the 27 stuffed animals, they were all ranging in size) and when I fell asleep the stuffed animals would "wake up" and have a dance party in my room. when a monster came out from under my closet they would stop dancing and start fighting the monster until it went away. My stuffed animals were Karate ninjas.
When i was younger my dad use to tell me to look out the car window when we were driving at night past woods, because i needed to look out for the goat man incase he attacked the car. i was terrified of the goat man.
I used to believe that there was a little lady that lived in my bed and would sew my feet to my sheet if I didn't tuck my blankets under my feet.
My dad goes on trips a lot, and when I was younger, I didn't bother asking where. So when my older sister told me that he was a secret purple alien spy from Mars in disguise who visited his home planet on his trips, I believed her. I was scared of my dad for a week.
I used to believe that there was a birdman that lived in a dumpster in the field across from my old home because my sister told it to me so I wouldn't follow her and her friends when they'd go out to the field to smoke.
My cousin used to tell me that there were some wild boar behind the windows .. And he used to tell me that if i didn't sleep fast the wild boar will come to me and will eate me !! So i would alway be scared and watched the window everytime ..
And he used to tell me too that behind the door in front of my bed there were some monsters and they'll devour me !! so when the door moved because of the wind .. or creaked i was scared and i cried a lot !!
My brother and I used to think that there were monsters would lived under bridges and highway overpasses. Whenever we drove under a bridge we would duck to make sure that the monsters couldn't grab us. Even now sometimes as a passenger I'll start falling back on old habits.
When I was little I used to thing that there was a little sleeping goblin in every subwoofer, because whenever my older brother used to turn the music on, the speaker would kick.
i though the goblin was angry that the music had woke him up and started kicking at the speaker
My brother and I used to believe that trolls lived under the parking spaces that say '15 minute parking only,' and if you parked there for longer than 15 minutes, the troll would come out and smash your car to pieces.
I used to believe that when I went to sleep, I'd have to cover my ears with my blanket, or else the monsters under my bed would eat them. I still do that to this day!
when i was about 8 my then friend told me a story about the toilet monster and how if you flushed the toilet he would come and kill you and hide you under the floorboards.my mum was so angry because i didnt flush the toilet for about 6 weeks or so..still abit weary about it now even though i'm 18 (i do flush the toilet i just run away straight after)

When I was little, my father told me that every night there was this "sand man" that put sand in your eyes to get you sleepy. For years I really thought he came every night, specially because my eyes would actually feel as if they had sand...
Around age 5 or so, I used to be deathly afraid to walk to the bathroom at night, for fear of monsters. I lived in a large house, and most of my family, including my parents slept upstairs - while I had a bedroom on the 1st floor.
I thought that monsters came out at night, and would be prowling around the house, just waiting for some unsuspecting victim...
I would put on a scary monster mask and dark cape, left-over props from Halloween - thinking that if I looked like a monster too, they wouldn't attack me. I would just be another monster using the bathroom!
I remember being scared to death, peeing, hoping that my disguise was working... lol
I used to believe that if i didn't go to sleep, monsters would come to get me so i would always sleep real fast.
