I live on a farm and I thought that if I went outside of my fence, trees would chase me down, and Once, my cousins told me that if I went outside of my fence at night, an old man with no legs would come out and eat me. I pictured a man lifting up the top of the silo and peeking out for little kids. Later on I thought about how he moved without any legs, and if he had a wheelchair, how could he get out of the top of the silo? Then I got daring and decided I could go outside of the fence at night, because even if that man was real, he couldn't run after me that fast without legs, or wheel fast on gravel. So i went out of the fence, and I swore I heard a loud clang, and I assumed it was the silo banging shut fast cuz he was coming, so I ran into the woods. Then I remembered...Evil Trees wanna kill me! so i just ran inside the fence, in the house, and turned all the lights on. I was home alone, to make matter worse. I backed myself into a corner so nothing could pop out behind me and I could see if something was coming. I sat there for about an hour, and I thought it was alright to get up, but as I did so, someone jiggled the door handle, and I thought it the the no legged man because it would have taken him a while to get to the door, so I sat in my corner and hoped he'd go away, but someone banged on the window, and I wet myself in the corner. I locked the doors, so my parents couldn't get in. They were laughing so hard that they didn't ground me for tinkling on their new carpet.

When I was younger, I used to believe that a evil man would come in our back door at night and run around the house checking the rooms to see if anyone was there. So I always listened for my parents to go to bed (because the man would only come in if no one was up, obviously) and then I would hide under my covers and pillows completely, except for a little breathing hole, so that when the evil man looked in the room he would think that it was empty and leave. I was always terrified that one day I was going to wake up too early and that he was going to be looking in the room, and then he would laugh in a high-pitched voice (I was sure he had a high-pitched voice somehow), stuff me in a sack, and then take me through the woods to the funeral home that we live near. I always thought that was where dead people came from - they forgot to hide under the covers when the evil man came into their house!

Two things that haunted me in my childhood weree the boogie man and the sand man and whenever I was playing in the sand box I saw my friends picking their noses so I kept on begging them not to so the sand man and the boogie man would not come and haunt us at night.

I used to believe that unicorns and dragons existed and that they all lived in New Zealand. I believe all this until I was about 17 and told a friend that I wanted to go to New Zealand to see the unicorns and she laughed in my face.
So…where DO THEY live??!?!?!

When I was about six or seven, Nana used to tell me about "Rawhead Bloodybones". He would break into the houses of children who weren't asleep, cut their heads off and then walk back down the street.

When I was younger I watched this show with my sister about people trying to prove or diprove the exsistance of sertan "Creatures" Only two shows that I can remember, one about a Chupacabra and the Jersy Devil, And the fact that my bed was right next to a closet didn't help, I thought that they would come out and suck my blood and eat my head if they saw me, I, to this day am still afraid of the Chupacabra

When I was little I used to believe that if you didn't pull the blinds or curtains over the windows at night, a werewolf or robber would peek in and stare at you while you slept. When we moved, my new room had one window that was too high for me to reach and so oddly shaped that for the longest time my parents couldn't find blinds to fit it. I was so freaked out by it that I tacked up a sheet over the window and refused to let anyone take it down at all.

...and I still can't sleep with an open or uncovered window...

When I was a kid I believed that there were the monster things and if you go out at night and go into the forest (or the woods) and said anything then that monster would jump right in front of you and then would take you away up the trees. So one night I had a dream of it happening and I woke up scared and ran into my parents room and they told me to go to bed. But then I kept on thinking I was seeing them hiding in the shadows (even in the house) and when I was on my way to my room, I couldn't take it any longer so I had to stand still in my brother's room and turn on the bathroom light with the door open. I decided to read (2:00am) with lights on or play my Game Boy SP untill 6:00!

My sister and I used to believe that we were one day going to randomly turn into cartoon characters of some sort. Once, we honestly thought we were turning into Koopalings (like in Super Mario World) because we became so obsessed with them. The fact that we have natrually dry, scaly-looking skin and fast-growing fingernails didn't exactly help...

I used to think that this one dark corner in our house was inhabited by monsters. Everytime I had to go near it, I sang a happy tune thinking that the monsters would stay away because they didn't like music.

When I was very young, my grandparents bought me a Mother Goose lamp that would read to me at night while I fell asleep. I was convinced that as soon as the light went out and I was asleep, the lamp would attack me and attempt to peck my eyes out. What made me think this I do not know.

My nephew is about 9 now, but a few years ago he wanted to go into an old trunk of mine. I told him no and he was frustrated. He was about to cry when i told him that it was my sister Janelle's evil twin Danielle locked in there. He looked like he'd just gotten the pun to a big joke! He ran over and kicked it and said " I'm never letting YOU out!!!" Haha
