I very much enjoyed a show called Jonathon Creek (and still do actually) and when it first started I was about nine or so. Well I hadn't missed a single epsiode until that point and so I was baffled when my mum said I couldn't watch it one evening. I demanded to know why and her response was: "The actor who plays Jonathon is sick tonight and can't be in it," and I actuallly *believed* her.

(It later turned out that that epsiode had a fairly tame sex scene in that she hadn't wanted me to see)

When I was little my mother used to watch Star Trek and as this was before I realised that most TV wasn't live. In one scene a character was wearing an outfit and then seconds later the scene changed to one later that day and there he was in another. I remember asking in bafflement how could actors change their clothes so quickly and my mother answered absently that they probably had a machine for it. For *ages* I believed that all actors had to run of stage and stand still while this little robot dressed them and then run off to act again. I asked my mother about this later and she said that because we'd been watching Star Trek she's thought I meant the characters getting changed rather than the actors.

When I was young there were two shows that featured absolutely loads of Gunge (which is a gloopy stuff used in kids shows a lot in the 90s) well one day a friend told me that Gunge doesn't actually come off and if you get any on you you're stuck with it forever. Naturally I was horrified that tv would do something like that and everytime Noel Edmund's House Party (where he Gunged people twice a night) or that kids show where children competed to drop their embarassing family members into a big pool of Gunge came on I would flee from the room.

When I was old enough to realize what a T.V. was, I thought that little people lived in it and performed just for me. I didn't know they didn't live in the television until many years later.

I used to think their was a family watching me on a TV when I was crying in my room(and at many other times) I would get upset at them laughing at me and smash up their TV. only problem was their dad was good at fixing TVs and they would watch me again so I smashed it again.

I used 2 get freaked out by the teletubbies. When the ' like ' drain pipe thing came up and said " teletubbies where are u?" I either hid under my bean bag, hid next 2 the tv under the table where it couldn't c me, or in the other room and poke my head round to check it was still there, if it was i'd jump into the other room until i heard the teletubbies talkin' and knew it was safe! l.o.l

When I was little I loved the muppet show. The time that the show came on where I lived was 6:30. Where both hands met at 6:30 on the living room clock was a word that began with the letter "M". Knowing very few letters at the time I thought that the word was "muppet" and that that would be the time that my tv show would always came on.
One day I was really upset when it did not come on when both hands on the clock were pointed on "muppet". Looking back on it know it was probably a weekend when the regular programs during the week are not played.

When I was very little, I was outside laying in the grass with my younger sister, and my babysitter's daughter (who was older than us) pointed up at the sky to show us these beams of light magically darting around the sky (or, to us adults, those huge, powerful moving spotlights that people shine into the sky in front of big events and openings and such). She told us that they were the beams that the Care Bears shot out of there tummies - when they would yell out "Care Bears stare!" in the cartoon - that helped people. For a long time, whenever I saw them they would make me happy because I thought it meant that the Care Bears were helping somebody.

When I was about 8, I used to think there was a little band inside radio speakers, and everything on the radio was live.

I used to believe that when I would play a video game in 1 player mode that the other players (the computers) were other people from around the world. But back then there weren't much online games, so yeah.
I also believed for a while that the computer was a robot playing the game.

I watched TV shows that sometimes had "applause" signs. I believed that the signs said "applesauce" and wondered why it would say that.

I used to believe that when a person was filmed with a camera they ceased to exist in real life and would only exist in the movie.
One day I went with my mom to pick my dad up from work and for some reason the news was there, when my dad walked past the camera I freaked out and it took them hours to calm me down. Instead of telling me that my belief was wrong they said that if a person walked by really fast the camera wouldn't catch them.

I refused to watch the film "Independence Day" for years as I believed it was a film about Jesus so it would be really boring. No, I don't know why either.

there was this song on the radio, could've been some sort of adv with the lyrics, "recyle, that's what we do, recycle...."
well, in my childhood innocence, i thought that it was, "we cycle, that's what we do, we cycle, tell your mother that we cycle!"
i always wondered why...

As a kid, i had NO IDEA how cartoons were made. I tried so hard to figure it out and eventually decided that it was all actors in costumes. But why were they outlined? Why was there (usually) no degrees of shade? I never came up with an explination for that. The kicker is that i remember watching an episode of Duck Tales and seeing a giant King Kong-ish ape. If these were actors in costume, how did they do that?! Naturally, I assumed it was about fifty actors in one giant gorilla suit and they all had to work together.
