I use to believe that there were tiny people in the radio singing the songs. I use to sit in front of the radio "telling" the people inside that the song they just sang was either good or bad.

When I was young, my mum and dad let me watch 'Terminator 2'. I knew it was a film, but what stuck with me was the idea that if you ever did anything important, someone would come back from the future and try to kill you. I used to crawl to my bed from the door, just in case there were snipers in a helicopter outside. I was about 14 at this time...

When i was young, i used to believe that if i dressed up as one of the teletubbies, i could have a small glittery blue television on my stomach just like them. that way, i could watch what young kids my age were doing!

When I was little I used to watch Seseme Street all the time. There was one character on the show, if you'll remember, named Mr. Snufalufacus. Well, if you watched the show and remember him, you'll remember he had these HUGE eyelashes. Well, I was convinced that if I got some shampoo in my eyes, my eyelashes would grow to that length and it scared me to DEATH! I would scream and cry whenver my mom tried to wash my hair because I was afraid I would have eyelashes like Mr. Snufalufacus.

Since I can remember, I was CONVINCED that the people in Pocahantas were Spanish, not English. I think it was because I saw something else with Spanish people who wore similar clothes. (For some reason I never wondered why a Spanish person would be named John Smith). :)

When my dad bought a computer baseball game, the installer said to turn off the monitor until the computer beeps. I thought you had to do that because very scary pictures would come up, and you had to turn it off so you wouldn't see them!
I used to think the people in TV could see me and that the violence was real in movies. I also believed that TVs stop programming "late at night" when I go to sleep, which was around 9PM.

When I was about four or five, I believed that the tv worked like the vcr: if you turned it off in the middle of the show, it'd pick up right where you left it. I thought that my tv was broken for months because when I had to turn off 'My Little Pony' to go to school, I'd come home, turn it back on and there would be an afternoon talk show on. I was always so disappointed.

In Canada (and possibly elsewhere), there are back pain relief medications called Robax. They have a series of long-running commercials featuring wooden marionette-type people. In them, the marionettes do something active until needles pop up from their backs, representing back pain. I thought that you actually got needles coming from your back whenever you had too much activity and got back pain and Robax was used to pull them out.

Before I started school I saw the odd bit of daytime tv show Trisha (Ricki Lake/ Jerry Springer type show). Anyway in Trisha's studio audience there were always loads of different types of people like teenage goths with flesh tubes, old grannies, bald tattooed guys, fashionably dressed ladies etc. I thought to get all those different types of people there, Trisha's studio audience must be called up, like JURY DUTY!
"Oh honey I've been called up to be in Trisha's studio audience!"
It never occured to me that thet might all LIKE the show...
I used to think that animated movies were actual people dressed up in costumes that made them look animated. Completely illogical.
After that was cleared up for me, and I knew that the actors were only involved with the voices, I thought that whenever I watched the movie, they'd have to read the script again and it would somehow appear on my TV. Like they were always just ready and waiting in the studio. I never wondered what would happen if two people were watching the same movie but started at a different time.
I used to believe that "some assembly required", as heard in countless television ads, meant that some of the boxes in the stores held completely assembled products and some required assembly. I could never figure out how I could never pick a box that contained an assembled toy. Never lucky enough I thought.

When i was 6 i used to constantly watch the sound of music but became increasing worried that Julie Andrews was getting angry and tired of having to keep singing for me and that she would lose her voice... also that the new readers could see me getting dressed so i used to hide behind the sofa... Pre-recorded obviously didn't mean a thing to me!
I once voted (aged 9ish) for a kids' TV-presenter by pressing a 'button' on the screen and watching the metres rise.
I actually believed they had somehow got a touch-screen capacity for the 'vote'.
I felt cheated that my vote didn't win.
My vote was the smelly tramp thrown in for comic effect (by rising furthest in the 'voting' chart, and then being pipped by the pre-selected presenter).

Until Recentyly I used to think
The scary cab driver in Home Alone 2 said
Emich Petter and Head Kid
I felt silly asking a cab driver what that meant.
I then realize he said
"Ain't much better in here kid"

when i was little, i thought that with the right tool, you could open up the back of the tv and go inside. i was quite upset when i discovered i couldn't go inside and visit the characters of my favorite shows.
I used to believe that there were people in the television, when i looked inside, i saw nothing but a red light.. it was weird because i was trying to figure out how they appear on screen :)
