I used to believe…
When I was younger, I believed that there were people with video camera hiding in places and filming everything they saw, and that was what TV and movies were. I also thought that cartoons were real, and wondered how they got their eyes to bug out so far!
I BELIEVED THAT WHEN THE RADIO STATION 1010 WINS WOULD SAY, "YOU GIVE US 22 MINUTES, WE'LL GIVE YOU THE WORLD", I'D BE OWNER OF THE WORLD AFTER MY 22 MINUTES. I ALWAYS WONDERED WHY NOTHING EVER CHANGED AFTER THE BROADCAST.

When I was a child I believed that when going to the movies the actors were really performing in back of the big white screen. Just before Star Wars I turned to my Mom and said, "Wow, those actors must be really tired because after this show they have to do the next one at 5 PM." Mom told me that is not how it works!. I, at the age of 5, had no concept of "film".

In the UK there was a show called The Adventure Game where the contestants (who were children) had to walk the "Vortex". This was a grid you had to get across one move at a time without the enemy getting to you (a bit like Chess but more sophisticated!). In between the grid lines was nothingness and if the child got caught he fell down into it. I genuinely believed that the children fell into the Vortex and never came back, and I couldn't understand why people kept applying to go on the show.
I am still afraid of grids...
I used to think that cartoons were real actors dressed up as these crazy characters. And because there were no shadows, I used to imagine that the set was painted just right so that shadows wouldn't appear on the the television screen.

My sisters and I wanted to know why the Wicked Witch of the West dissolved when water was thrown on her at the end of The Wizard of Oz. My mom told us it was because she was made of brown sugar. Makes sense...right? I thought so until I was in my twenties.
I used to believe that the "invisible" or "clear" paint used in cartoons exsisted. (you know the paint the charaters would use to be invisible and then foil the plan on the vilian or hide)

Because my mum had told me that cartoons were 'moving drawings', i assumed that all things on the TV were drawn- so when i watched anything live action, i always thought 'wow, i wish i could draw like that!'
I used to think that all those people typing subtitles were extremely quick. I thought the subtitles for each scene were only typed out when that particular screen was shown. Hence the many mistakes too.
I used to think that commercials that say "get your free gifts now" or "available now" or anything that says "now" meant that we have to rush there within a few seconds before the commercial ends.

I used to think that they made TV shows by placing hidden cameras in other people's houses so I used to check every coner of my house just in case.

when tv ads for toys came on i would always try to convince my parents that they should buy me the toy because it was "9.99 PLUS TAX!" i didn't know that the 9.99 did not inlcude the additional tax, and thought that i would get the toy because of the lesser price

I used to believe that if you weren't good, the Trix Rabbit would steal your yogurt.
I used to believe that every one watched me... like i would live my life, and do regular stuff and people would go on with there business... but i always had that feeling that every time i turned around every "thing" would watch me... like my reflection, and then when i turned around they would be normal! I grew out of that but it sort of still feels like it!

When I was younger I was absolutely sure that the speakers in the car must have tiny people in them performing the songs and saying the advertisments. I thought this for years. It wasn't until I realized that Elvis was DEAD that finally asked my dad how the stereo worked. I still don't understand...
I used to believe that movie soundtracks were the movie's audio only.I used to believe that when you bought a soundtrack you would hear everything they say in the movie.
...is that way overrated?
I was about 4-5 ears old when I first saw Star Wars in theatres. I had just woke up from a tiny nap and had no clue what was going on in the movie. All I knew was that a planet was going to be destroyed. It was Tatooine, but I thought that that planet was Earth. I thought that the movie was being broadcasted live from outer space. I started crying real hard when the lasers formed on the Death Star, and when the lasers hit, I was waiting for a noise of destruction to come our way.
I used to believe that when I watched televison, the people on the screen were actually behind my tv set. So I would always go sit behind the tv when my favourite show was on. Thinking that the rest of my family could see me on the screen in my favourite show.
